Briefly met him @ windowsill ledges back in August 2001, he was there with Jereme and Alexis Sablone. I was actually star struck and felt like an idiot, so he broke the ice and asked me if I needed some wax, super nice dude. That was the best summer of my life, stated with me and my friend skating Washington DC, filming lines at Pulaski. That week in August-September 2001 was the best. We were skating old school 'Waterfront' aka Columbus Park. Eli Reed gave me props for having a Vehicle board. Jereme was psyched because we fixed the propped up ledge @ waterfront and he ended up filming a few tricks in Wonderful Horrible Life because of us. Jereme was chill too back then. We ended up in Dave "Happy"Armsden's apartment, rider and shop clerk for Coliseum, super chill guy. We smoked bubble gum weed out of the biggest bong I've ever seen, never been so high lol. Fuck those times were great. It feels fleet because literally 1-2 weeks later 911 happened and the world changed for the worse so the it's memories of a more innocent bygone era. I'll cherish those memories forever. Even got to skate with Donny Barley once. Wish I had stayed off the drugs and skated 2wice as much. I' m 37 now and the world is so depressing. God, everything about this man is the absolute pinnacle of excellence. Someone once described a young PJ Ladd, they said he "skates like a young God." A God in the sense of some kind of elemental power, something ethereal and omnipotent. I used to watch PJ WHL all the freakin time with my older sister. She was the one who said it. "He skates like a young God." It's the realest thing I've ever heard. I'm 35 and my sister is 37. We were really into skaters with good style. I still am. We also watched Marc in Modus all the time, too. And Mark in Sorry. Absolute beauties on a board they are. It's hard to understand the impact of PJ on the scene unless you watch other skaters from that era, like, 2002-2005 ish.
