The PK is holds heat better by a long shot. Once dialed in the temp is steady as she goes and is very reliable in cold weather. Offset cooking is what I do most and the PK is flawless. With the cookmore grid ( about $45) I can double the cooking area, and as for cleaning, I just hose it out. Because its all aluminum it will NEVER rust and will last several lifetimes. The Original is still completely made in the USA, only the PK360 and PK New Original is made in China (disappointing and I would not buy one of these). Most Weber grills are made from "globally sourced components" and some are actually manufactured in China and Taiwan. I'm not saying that Weber does not make a quality product, they do, but when I made my decision it was USA all the way which is why I went with PKTX and have never looked back.

Well, pretty simple for me. The cooked meat on the PK far far far outshines the Weber. So much so that I gave mine to my neighbor, who doesn’t grill much. PK grills are Made in the US and are leaps and bounds superior in smoking. Yeah, cleaning and all may be easier with a Weber but I didn’t buy a grill because it’s easy to clean. I bought the PK because it cooks better.

This is a fact based video. My neighbor has a PK and I have several kettles, including a performer. We have cooked on each other's grills extensively. The cleaning itself is a deal breaker and the accessories make it a no-brainer as to which one the average person would prefer. He wants to buy one of my Webers and even offered to trade his PK for one. After using his PK, I'm not interested in trading. I have so many grills and smokers (including a chargriller Sidebox which is basically a Rambler Joe), I might just give him a kettle.

If you use grill regularly then Weber kettle will last 10 years and PK360 will last 50 years. I have both. Difference in build quality is superior in PK360 even though it's made in China. PK360 can maintain temperature so well and it's far more efficient using charcoal compared to Weeber. Overall you will spend far less money on PK in thee long run. Major accessories are available for PK too. But out f the box PK360 works like a charm. At least I didn't need to purchase anything else.

If you think the Weber kettles made and sold these days are made to last, you will be a sad customer pretty soon. My Weber bought in 1999 lasted for 21 years but when I was checking for a replacement Weber I realized the quality of the metal, the weight, is nowhere near what it was. No wonder Weber has lost its’ market leader position, and no list of accessories can hide the FACT it does not retain heat good enough to be used for long cooks anymore. Enter PK. The build is massive and once you dialed it in, you can leave it. It’s. A. BBQ.

I can speak to Weber's customer service. Every interaction I've had with them has been awesome. Over 20 years, I've had 5 weber, 4 kettles, one smoker. Still have 3 of the kettles and the smokey mountain. Of the two issues I've had, one with the smoker and the other with a special edition kettle, both were resolved very fast at no charge. I have smoked, baked, grilled, seared, you name it, on a kettle. Longest burn with no refuel on a 22 inch kettle was almost 10 hours. Just my .02, but that's been my experience.

I don't know about Weber lasting decades. I had one of their more basic 18" grills for many years that was kept outside, but not exposed to rain or direct sunlight. It did start falling apart and rusting eventually but still worked. I gave it to a friend and bought the same Weber in this video. I'm thinking about the PK even though there's nothing wrong with the Weber and I have the Vortex, Grill Grates and Slow and Sear. I'm also considering a pellet grill to smoke. I've smoked quite a bit on the Weber but it's not ideal.

Weber's parts are getting more questionable every year. Most of their parts are made overseas. The shell seems to still be made here. You can tell some of the components are questionably compatible. For instance, the leg sockets on the kettle are USA, but the legs themselves are overseas. The fitment is sloppy and the legs are quite thin in material. What you end up with is a wobbly stance. Replacements aren't cheap either. I'm just gonna throw this out there for enquiring minds. If you want all 100% American made. Goldens' Kamado cast iron cooker is made and shipped right out of their Columbus Georgia foundry. It's made of 3/8 inch ductile cast iron and can easily withstand a fifty foot drop. This cooker is built like a tank like they used to do back in the 1800-1900's. Goldens' has been in business for over 140 years and they offer a lifetime warranty from top to bottom. If you're looking for the one heirloom cooker that will last several lifetimes, this is it folks. P.S. I don't work for Goldens' I just heavily admire this cooker.

I've had both the Weber for over a decade and now a PK360 for 2 years. The build quality on the PK is superior with a thick cast aluminum shell and thick steel grates. The vent fins on my Weber rusted relatively quickly with the vent becoming non functional. Clean up might be tougher on the PK300 but the 360 has a clean out hole in the base. I can sweep the ashes into the hole and into a pail that I can hang under the shell. The PKs do have smaller cooking surfaces (I think 300 and 360 refer to area in square inches) so if you're cooking for bigger groups (>5 people) it could be a challenge. The PKs are far pricier than the Weber. I don't really use accessories so that didn't factor into my decision making. PSA-Use a wood grill grate to clean as opposed to wire brushes. There have been many case reports of perforations of the esophagus from swallowing metal wires that come loose from cheaply made wire brushes.

Good presentation. If I was looking to buy a new grill, I think I would go with the Weber based price and where it's made now. My first Weber kettle from 20 years ago lasted 15 years despite being knocked off a porch during a storm, run over by a family member mowing the lawn, and living outdoors all year long. Now, neglect kills grills. Doesn't matter if it is weber, pk, or any other. Take most reviews of people raving about one brand over another with a grain of salt. It's charcoal plus air equals heat, doesn't matter if it is a pk, a kettle, or a kamado. All of them cook with the same fuel and principles.
