Bonsoir, mon ami d'Un Américain à Paris! (Connaissez-vous ce film, avec Gene Kelly? L'un des meilleurs films musicaux de tous les temps. Demande à tes parents s'ils se souviennent de Leslie Caron. THE GOAT is right. Stupid America has no idea what they’re missing. Thanks so much for finding these gems of him performing to this day, around the world. I like what he says near the end, about hoping to be invited back for the 40th anniversary, but we shall see about the 50 th. XD Bravo Maestro. Ruben Amon recounts the following in his book, “Plácido Domingo, Un Coloso en el Teatro del Mundo,” pp. 85-87, and I quote: “The state of euphoria lasted until dinner. Plácido Domingo and Daniel Barenboim were chatting in a nearby Berlin restaurant with a group of friends. Nerves had been relieved. Relaxation and appetite prevailed. “It then occurred to Barenboim to tell the story of the Russian tenor Ivan Kozlovsky (1900-1993). Smoking a cigar, he told those present that the man in question had sung professionally until he was ninety-three years old. He also explained to us that the secret of longevity consisted in keeping to himself, metering himself like a run-down hourglass. He only really used herself for four performances a year. Which ones? Those that coincided with Stalin's visit to the Bolshoi. Koslovsky became the favorite interpreter of the Georgian dramatist, which is why the theater management could not reproach him for his indolence and apathy when the Soviet patriarch was absent from the stage, which was almost always. "It is historically proven that Stalin's devotion to Koslovsky materialized in a paternalistic and transcendental kiss in public. It is also proven that the graceful tenor reciprocated the father of the fatherland by accompanying him on the piano. Stalin sang and presumably quite badly, but the chronicles of the time could not question the predator's singing line. “Barenboim was recreating himself in history and explicitly proposed Domingo the feat of surpassing Kozlovsky's longevity record. He told him this between laughter and puffs of smoke, although Plácido had no need to emulate his Russian colleague; he had already beaten him by far, not in terms of years, but in terms of the number of performances. “The anecdote and the nuance are relevant because Plácido Domingo represents a case without equivalent in the history of opera. One can mention some colleagues who have passed their seventies in active service - Raina Kabaivanska, Hans Hotter, Nicolai Ghiaurov - and other examples, such as Giuseppe Taddei, who retired in their eighties. But Domingo's case is different, because of the number of flight hours and the extraordinary vocal health with which he has performed in the seventh decade of his existence. “He explained it to us himself in the run-up to his debut as Simon Boccanegra: ‘Yes, longevity is beginning to surprise me, but I feel good and I'm in good shape. I'm not going to sing a day more than I should or a day less than I can. I can't retire when the theaters are full. And it's not only a question of popular support, but also of honesty and rigor, let's be clear. I will be the first to know that I cannot sing. And I will act accordingly, with the same professionalism with which I have acted in all these years of career. On the one hand, my seventieth birthday is just around the corner, and, on the other hand, my agenda is still full of commitments and challenges.’” Lots of wisdom there for all of us to appreciate. Encore une fois, merci beaucoup mon ami, jusqu'à la prochaine fois, votre ami américain en Amérique, ~A.

Howdy my fellow American! Ha d’accord! Oui n’oublions jamais le passé 🙏 And I fully agree with you concerning the fact that this digital revolution era illuminate us therefore we have a tendency to forget the real values . It’s amazing when I think that 40 years ago , Nasa would have some computers in a entire room for the same data and power that a single phone for each individual gives us know! We are living quite a revolution but I think we should be careful (that’s all) Iv once heard about the Vietnam war that 10% was to fight the southern viets , 20% was to chase the communists and 70% was to avoid at all cost an American humiliation worldwide. Quite scary when you think of it 😅 Nothing compare to WW2 witch was ( in my opinion) a fight between good and evil💪. Some people don’t like my “ good and evil “ expression but it’s a fact !! ( not those poor German soldiers of cours , I’m talking about the Nazies ) I mean lol , we would all be speaking German by know if Big Brother 🇺🇸 didn’t send their fleet for D-Day . Thank God I used to watch as a kid ( it’s Gershwin isn’t it? ) but I don’t remember the movie . Yep indeed, Americans are quite rash when a scandal appears ( wether it’s fake or not lol ) It’s a pleasure 😁, I’m happy to have a little résumé if the performance wasn’t professionally filmed . It’s important, he’s a Titan after all . Lol ikr , and he will be there !! And for the 50th , perhaps among the public 😉 93 ?!😯 Stalin singing ! What a awesome story ! Thanks for sharing compadre ! Wise wise men 😎 Im the train right now , a TGV ( train à grande vitesse) the success of French engineers ! going to La Rochelle , a French city along the Atlantic coast , the German U-Boat fleet was based there . I’m gonna work in a hotel ( a bit stressed 😅) to validate my first year for so no summer vacation alas 😢 HOWEVER , the 21t of June amigo I have the pleasure to announce you that I’m coming back to Paris TO SEE MAESTRO PLACIDO DOMINGO IN CONCERT!!!!! I cannot wait 😅 , its for my 18th birthday. I have two more tickets, my parents told me to invite someone who loves opera and who’s a good friend , I can assure you that if somehow you go by Paris amigo , we’re going together 😂 Anyway voila Ok amigo , until next time ! I think about this concert every day Hasta ! ~S

@UCyVFJosT9Jd1C1r5ffEMEhw Hola mi amigo transatlantico, de acuerdo. The Viet Nam war became controversial for many reasons, some good, some bad. Were it not for the successful propaganda campaign waged by Hollywood elites and our self-hating press, America would have prevailed. Viet Nam later admitted it was on the verge of surrendering, when our, then revered, news anchor Walter Cronkite announced one evening that we had lost and it was hopeless for us to try to win. That was the last time we tried to openly and decisively win any war. But enough about that, I don’t want to get into politics. We all get by with a little help from our friends. 😉 But yes, WW2 was a battle between good and evil. And good prevailed, thank God. You liked the excerpt from Amon's book I posted? I'm glad, I thought it was a good example of what kind of man Domingo is and how he knows what he's doing and everyone needs to relax about it. This is my first comment on YT today. My comments continue to be deleted, without any explanation, or detectable rational, except if I comment more than once an hour and more than five comments a day. Have you ever figured out how to get to your Discussion tab on your phone? Do you know how to set comments to be Held for Review, or to Allow All? I think you have only 60 days to review comments there before they vanish from being Held. Off to work at a hotel, bravo! Soak up all the knowledge you can and I hope the ladies are hot. 😉 June 21 you’re going to one of his concerts?! Mon Dieu, magnifique! I can’t wait either. 😄 There would have to be a miracle for me to get there in time buddy, but I’ll be there in spirit all the same. His concerts always include lovely ladies, so you should take some of your pals anyway. I know you’ll do it anyway, but do take as much video and photos as possible. Oolala! Well, I must go tend to some fence work before nightfall. Great chatting with you as always my friend, until next time, a bientot! ~A.
