The whole sensation and brute sound of a + 450 mph pass is missing though. Without it #5 and #7 are just visually modified Mustangs, they don't look slow in this Demo - they even sound retired. Sad story but all good things end somedays...

This one brought back great memories of riding with Bill Destefani in Mangia Pane (his pre-Strega racer) durng an air race demo at Madera with Dreadnought and John Crocker's Sumthin Else back in the '80s. A low pass at 400 mph in a Mustang is not something to be forgotten... I wish I could share the photos I have from that flight.

@@Voodoo1650 My wife and I attended the unlimited gold race yesterday at Reno-Stead, and quite honestly, it was a bit disappointing. Dreadnought and Goldfinger are wonderful airplanes, but they just don't deliver the goods in terms of flat out speed! Dreadnought took the gold at an average speed of 403 mph, Goldfinger finished in 3rd at 301. I'd be interested to see the attendance numbers for 2018 and 2019, as I've never seen so many empty seats for an unlimited gold race!

@@Voodoo1650 - Is there a specific reason for the retirement of "Voodoo"? I am just catching up on the past ten years of Reno, I really admire your videos and reading this comment is how I first learned of her retirement from racing.

@@coolmodelguy6304 Bob, chased winning the gold for a very long time, he owned Voodoo since the early 90's, so once he and the team achieved their goal of winning gold and the added bonus of breaking the world speed record, he decided it was time to be done. I'm glad he donated her to the PoF guys since he knew they would take care of her and fly her regularly. Steve Hinton also put a lot of his own money and time in on her, so it was fitting for the plane to go to them.
