This actually addresses one of my two major concerns. The other was the planets was to flat so it felt like there were no obstruction or terrain (like mountains) to use but this issue, from the map I've seen ZaphodX play on, seems addressed.

ok people listen up! If you have never played this game it is a good game. It just could be better. IT IS A GOOD GAME YOU SHOULD BUY IT. The main thing I want is that each planet has its own thing that makes it different from other planets. and no not like gas planets,like having elemental units you can only build on certain planets like ice elemental units only being able to be built on ice planets and vice-versea with lava planets. What i mean is is that it does not matter what planet you start on (unless if it is the metal planet) i want to make it matter.

I have tried the unit cannon out. Usually I just throw construction bots to their plannet, build a teleporter and spam units through said teleporter. The unit cannon is fine for that kind of surgical strike, but since you have to build many of them and launch them yourself, it's often not worth making many of them compared to factory spam into a teleporter (instant travel, less finicky controlling it). To speak on the many disgruntled people commenting. I think it might be a good idea to allow more options in the game to tailor your experience to what you want (if I have missed these features in PA, please forgive me). SupCom1 allowed the host to disable nukes, experimental and so on. I wouldn't think this should be a difficult function to build into the game. Also, yeah the game is a little spam-y. SupCom was a much slower paced game, where even building your base up to T2 took a while. I think it might be nice to have the option to set build times, costs and other economic factors. Though I have heard this game was made to be fairly easily modded by the community. Mods for more options and Sup-Com like play would be much more appreciated.

Generally speaking rushing to T2 (around 8 mins or so yeah) in SupCom was risking loosing control of the map vs long term power gain. I have seen it work and seen it backfire horribly. Still, even when one is rushing to the middle tech level, that takes 8 mins, 8 mins for the opponent to grow, scout and skirmish. I'll need to go back and look at some replays but I am pretty sure that in PA a lot 'more' can and does happen in those first 8 mins (bases wrecked, commanders destroyed and the space race beginning) . In SupCom it took minutes for land units to get anywhere (and even planes took a while moving about (all of which made the scale feel pretty big)). Units were also fairly tough and stuff like shields & PD allowed players to more easily take their time to take and make more strategic decisions. In PA I not only facing smaller distances between bases (on avg). Units are relatively faster and squishier. I also can always be attacked on all sides and have to keep track of space and possibly multiple planets. If the focus is on big, marco-y things happening, then I feel that players should be given more time, not less, to respond and act in this more convoluted and complex environment*. *Because even though all one has to do is spam, air, land and space stuff. Controlling all that stuff (whilst scouting and expanding) is still a nightmare.

byter i think you misunderstand the definition of macro in PA´s case... macro doesn´t neccesarily mean "Big" it means that your primary focus is on production of energy, metal units and stuctures ... stop producing anything and you will get overwhelmed .. it is actualy that simple ... of course it matters what you build and how and when you use it ... which is simply basic micro and unitcomposition .. basicly you try to automate a neverending productionmachine that spits out tanks and bots like no tommorow and throw them to a general direction ... of course you enemy will try to harass you so you have to adapt ... yes there are fast units which are mostly t1 bots, fighters and bombers, tanks are fairly slow and will take time to get anywhere especialy t2 however they have the stronger punch and thicker skin ... and yes of course there happens a lot in PA as it´s faster paced that doesn´t however automaticaly make lategame stuff be available/viable sooner ... also spaceraces in 1v1 is a rare thing to occure .. it´s obviosly more a thing in multiplanetplay spherical planets and orbital is what makes PA stand out ... it is part of it´s challange allong with the higher pace and no unitcap .. admitadly orbital is a bit lacking but i think this will be fixed soon as well .. if you want spawns to be farther away you can fairly easy create your own planets with custom placed spawn locations ... unfortunataly the current ladder mappool is small but more systems and planets are added with time .. so i think there will be planets that may suit you more ... planetnavigation is something to get used to but isn´t all that hard ...

The game runs fine on average gaming rig as long as you don't go too crazy with the solar system setup. The art style is basic but efficient, and there are now some decent annihilation features like planet collisions, deathstar, and moon rocket. Units variety covers all expected warfare mechanics, but i would have liked some wicked experimental units. I also miss the commander upgrades. I have a little complaint about the lack of game modes and game parameters. Assassination is fine, but sniping commander can be so easy i wouldn't say no to an Annihilation mode. I had a lot of fun this past month with couple of friends on online play anyway and I am pretty happy with the current state of the game. There is still a lot that can be added but as far as I am concerned you fulfilled a good part of your kickstarter contract, and I am willing to back your next project. (You started Human Resources way to soon for your audience to be ready to throw money at you again).

Here's a neat idea, make extremely large maps by allowing multiple Solar Systems in it and making a new planet which is a ring. It could act as either another laser or a planetary teleporter to move planets between solar systems, just some ideas and thoughts

Crowd funding is throwing money at them in a hope that they make something you want. MrStarkiller1100 I should have clarified; I invested in the idea of a modernized Supreme Commander Forged Alliance to support multiple monitors more efficiently and use larger maps. I don't care about a monetary return, I just wanted a half decent RTS to exist. Fortunately, I now have much thicker skin when it comes to crowd funding projects. My rose tinted glasses for the lineage of the lead developers no longer exist, at least.

Apparently, the Titans Expansion added three new orbital unites: The Hermes (Space Probe) The Omega (Space Battleship) The Helios (Orbital Invasion Titan) The closest thing there is to space carriers is the space transport, which only holds one unit. I guess you can use a warp gate to transport mass units at once.

This was done in Supreme Commander 2 already (mind you SupCom2 sucked IMO) A welcomed addition - since it was shown in the bloody originaly E3 trailer - but without stuff like shield generators and the option to run clasic Supreme Commander strategies (turtling, using long range artillery) then IMO the game just isn't that fun. Its a starcraft 2 rush/zerg fest - with a map gimmick. I had hoped for something more akin to Supreme Commander style gameplay. Oh well

I didn't know PA was the spiritual successor to SupCom's imbalanced shield and artillery game mechanics. .. Oh wait, it isn't. :P Nor is PA about the zerg rush or the micro that goes along with it. This game wasn't made to cater to SupCom or Starcraft players, and it's been stated many times in the past. It's made more for strategists rather than tacticians. TA and SupCom are a bit of both, Starcraft is nearly 100% the latter, but PA is almost completely the former. God forbid people play a new RTS with new mechanics *without* flipping their shit on how it's so different from the one or two titles they play. xD I'm not saying PA is perfect. It's far from even close to many other strategy/tactical games because they've had years, some more than a dozen, to update, refine their form, and have the fanbase put forth invaluable effort and unheard of hours to prolong the series way after they've lost official support. The PA devs may not make the game you specifically want, but you can bet your ass there's someone who will. Will it be you?

There always place for some tunning, but lets not whine for nothing. edit. Well, shame there are problems with Mac OS, but Im not really a fan of it. It slows down progress of PA, we have to downgrade OpenGL version to older Macs...

I don't even care that the game is a rushfest - That's the one thing that I love about it. The only thing that I don't like - And the one thing that would jump my score from 10 to 100 if it were changed - Is that we were told that we'd get a real time galaxy, but instead we have a 90's C&C style mission choosing screen, and tiny solar systems for maps.

unitcannoncapsules are easily countered by umbrellas and tacmissileplatforms ... so realy if your opponent has no defenses of any description ... he deserves to get boomed ...

It's quite a shame, but I still can't get into this game. SupCom had very unique factions, interesting maps, very unique units for each faction, an incredible sense of scale, and beautiful unit designs that made sense for the faction they belonged to. PA? Identical factions, no interesting maps, no unique units, the sense of scale is completely screwed up because the planets are so tiny that it makes everything else feel ridiculously short as well (SupCom had an amazing sense of scale even with "small" units because you could compare the units to the trees on the map and realize just how gigantic they all were), and the unit designs are more ridiculously cartoonish than SupCom2. I mean, wasn't the terrible unit design something that pretty much everyone agreed the first SupCom did much better? Why does something claiming to be a successor to SupCom do this? What's worse is that the only argument I ever really see is that it was done for "balance." First of all, SupCom had all of the positives I mentioned above while still being balanced. What, did the developers feel like the only way to be balanced was to practically throw away any chance at having even slightly interesting factions?

Orbital mechanics look horrible, nukes need to be fleshed out, weapon effects and effects in general need a re run, although reasonable, pathing could also take a look at with naval and air also needing a re think. I have been with this game since the beginning and it pains me to say these things, as I had so much hope for the game. But it is obvious now that uber is struggling to make ends meet just based on the kickstarter funds. Using gimmicks to sell games on steam like the planet smashing or this update that is blatantly aimed at steam players, wich may get them some fresh players in the short term but poor reviews in the long term, considoring this game is ment to be released, and isnt even half finished in my eyes.

What I learned from all the Kickstarter-funded games I'm subscribed to on KZitem is that backers are an unhappy bunch. I will never back a game myself because of that (except if someone attempts a proper Tribes2 successor), because I may not be immune to this frustration either.

They left because Uber fell short of their promises and made a sloppy game that fell waaaaay short of what their vision was in the concept art. If you look up the concept art on their website you'd see they had huge planets as a vision which were very detailed and had alot of nice decals... ***** Concept art is just that. Concepts. A lot of this noise is unrealistic expectations. People who a casual statement like "that could be a good idea" as a 100% confirmation of implementation. Battles on multiple planets: check Smashing said planets into other planets: check No unit cap: check That was the core promise and that's exactly what we got.

Well, if you had the titans expansion, you could get the legion mod for free. It's really cool, it has entirely different buildings and commanders, and a different playstyle. I gotta say, the Legion faction is more focused on brute force than vanilla PA.

welp Since I was such a fan of supreme commander 1 it lead me to be hooked on the series. The second scam that really made me steaming with steam was when I bought planetary annihilation which was suppose to be a steam sequel of supreme commander 2. I watched the trailers and it was much anticipated by supreme commander fans. It was like the old one however the wars took place on planets. Great idea. Instead of steam paying to get the game developed, steam asked for 1 million dollars from fans to develop the game. Fans done just that over 2.2 million in funding was raised to make the game. Then it was released on oct 17, 2014 I paid 39.99$ bought it online the day it came out. They failed to ship. I called them 5 times to reorder after waiting 3 weeks I finally got the game and surprise surprise of course just a product code so then a 14 hour download and the game was absolutely terrible they cut so many corners the zoom in and zoom all the time stayed froze, it didn't even have an opinion to save the game during a battle. People complained so much in the first two days of its release on forums and in web reviews steam dropped the price to 14.99$! Futhermore steam invented this new term that it was an Alfa/ beta game( which is an uncompleted game in development) first off why didn't they tell me that it was an uncomplete game? second why release an uncomplete game? after fans donated 2.2. million dollars to a company that should have paid for the development.

so much missinformation i don´t know were to start with ... first: game was made by uber entertainment which has veterans of supremecommander and total annihilation and is an indy ... steam merely sell PA on their platform 2. game is a spiritual successor total annihilation not supreme commader if you compare the two 3. game was kickstarted due to mesuring the intrest to the game and limited budget of the indyteam it was either asking people or not making the game at all ... 4. the terms alpha and beta are by no means new they exist for every developmentcycle to every product made it is not even unusual to add more developmentphases to a developmentcycle ... that however is meaningless to the consumer as all he needs to know wheither the product goes on release/goldstate

MrTBSC I'm not expecting Uber to make PA have 40 online players. That would never happen. But a fully functional 6-8 as in SC 2 would be understandable. As far as online its not an issue of software its a internet speed limitation. So I dont expect farther advancement on that part. Just better graphics and performance more units. SC 1 had a unit cap of 1000 and SC2 had also a unit cap of a 1000. With three players maxed out hardly any lag on my desktop. I want you to buy SC1 FA or SC2 and just try it and you will understand how much better those games are as far as movement and fluency than PA. I know PA is a work in progress, but if it wasn't finished they should have waited till it was done, is my point. Imagine going out to buy a brand new car(PA) and you pay full price(39.99) problem is you can't drive it home. Dealer tells you it is a work-in-progress and they hadn't completely figured out how to make the motor run(operating system) and the tranny(the units) is bad to. Ok, so everytime they come up with a new part you have to download it hoping it doesn't have a bug and whether or not its going to work with what you have and the other new parts. Eventually the car( aka PA) would have enough parts to make it work. But that could be 6 months, a year and if they ax the project you just payed for a uncomplete game. My point is if they didn't have the money they shouldn't have ever touched it. When spore was in development they didn't ask for a single dime and the company payed 100% of the expenses. Most of the time if a game is going to be a real saleout it will be no talk of it before its release. I 100% agree with you but I just love the feeling and thought of buying a brand new game and tearing the plastic off and the game and it being all ready to go. But in this case it wasn't. Also, since you seem to be a PA pro maybe you can help me out with mine. I bought the lastest version on September 5, 2014 and it came in the mail in early Oct. I made an Uber account set up the lancher and downloaded the game which took around 14 hours, it quit 3 times and each it had to start over. I finally got it downloaded fine late one night. I hit play button it started fine and once in the game it froze about 3 min in every time that I would start a game it would freeze on my new pc. I got frustrated and went to bed. This was in Oct. I let update after update download after its realease. So in Jan I figured I would give it another try I undownloaded it then re-downloaded it. And now everytime I click on the play it reads" checking manifest" then it redownloads the game all over again. I checked the control panel it is loaded onto my computer, however it has done everything except actually start the game. I really wish these games had a defalt setting and the game was on the disk and a basic version would play regardless of the updates. Its quick to give errors and has no trouble with that but it wont run. I tryed loading it on my other windows 8.1 and does the same. I've got 40 hours of worktime sunk into this thing. Any advice?if you had played the game you would understand. In SC FA( a complete game) the plot of the story was about a universal war between UEF Cybran Aeon Seraphim notice the word (universal) in other words interplanetary war. At the time they didn't have the technology to make the game interplanetary just 2D maps. The plot covered the rest of the story. The maps wasn't all one planet duh. The SC1 plot set the game in motion again. It give the whole bot idea a meaning.Then in SC2 the Seraphim died out. think(the story the idea) If they added everything to the first one how would they have made a story and room for the next one? Ok so now next step make the game reach out in space(interplanetary) war for SC3. SC3 didn't happen but PA done a failed attempt at this. Look at the commanders ? That idea is so unique that, where did they get the idea from? You really didn't think that they just happened to make a game (PA) based on nothing from SC1 and 2 and it was just a accident? NO

Hunter Stroupe i played supcom FA and TA before so i do know enough about those games the biggest difference between FA and PA is that maps are mobile objects as they are spheres in a solarsystem and not flat squares... and the bigger and more detailed they are the more ram you need so that is to be considered there ... as for your problem : have you tried to launch the game via the exe and not the launcher ... meaning update the game once then start it over the exe to skip the constant verifieng part and login for online multiplayer ... if yu start the exe you are offline by default additional adwise go to optionsmenu on the server tab and put the server how you think is best local mean your machine is used as server if you put auto the system will determine automaticaly if your machine is powerfull enough for online multiplayermatches if you have any other problems i suggest to visit the forums and be sure to have your drivers up to date here is the the thing with PA it currently the latest of the TA like games you say they shouldn´t have touched it because of the budged?... 70000 other dudes sayd YES do it ... they knew the risk and took it ... why did i do it? because i grew tired of FAF especialy with the engymod because of its arbitrary HQsystem ... i disliked the upgrade approach of Supcom and i started to despice the adjancecybonussystem because it wasn´t optional but mandatory otherwise you would be way behind ecowise throughout the match ... the story of supcom is ... forgetable at best ... it´s all about throwing metalavalnches and WoMD´s at each other ..

MrTBSC Well i'm not sure were the exe. is? I just upgraded to windows 8.1 two weeks ago and it doesn't show that. I know what your talking about its in the games/files folder. On Windows xp with old games I could open it right up but for some reason windows has this setting changed. When I go to control panel it just gives me install or uninstall choice. Thats it. When I click on the game under the start menu it just starts the download. No options menu or anything. Just run. Looked at the fourms just says the same. Or run as administrator which I have already done and downloaded it that way also. I wish the disk had the game and a default setting that just had the game without all the other updates. It sure would make things much easier.

Sorry, still sucks. Start with adding different and interesting factions, fix the balancing (ie. encourage strategy, instead of rushes by sheer numbers) and make the planets look and feel like gigantic planets please, currently they look like artificial and empty dull spheres messing with the overview of the game. It's ironic but the scale in Supreme Commander 2 felt much much bigger/larger and this partly has to do with the over-saturated art style and lack of actual planet back-drops, vegetation and geology that feels natural. Why are planets this empty anyway?

k1ll3rM LOL, that's the lamest excuse ever, nor doesn't it make actual sense. They've shown to be incapable of balancing the game properly from the earliest days of development, so yeah I understand how they rather do not wish to engage in asymmetrical factions. But... at the very least they could have added different designs and just make them mirrored factions. The game is hugely lacking in content.

Razor 121 you can launch units from planet to planet with it and not just on the same "map"/planet additionaly antiorbital defenses and units can attack the pods before landing so you can´t just toss units into a general direction as they would get obliterated ... so the unitcannon here is not so much a "experimental" but an actual fairly important invasiontool when it comes to multiplanet matches ... but since it works the same way as the noah from supcom 2 you have to build your units in it and it´s capacity is limited per launch to afaik 12 units ...

Im not really happy with the game, honestly there is the same tactics all the time, Nuclear warfare is overpowered unless you or the enemy builds Anti nukes ( I however dont see a problem with balancing when its only one faction...) That said, add a faction or two! What is there? Like 10 units in total including the commander? The advanced buildings are basically copies of the ones before, and most of them never see any use. Add more variation instead of the Repetitive game. More detailed planets with mountains for defence etc would also be better. I want to like this game, but it's just too reptitive, everyone uses the same tactics and I hate fighting bots

10 units? lets see (exluding fabricators and commander (10) ): t1 botfactory: dox, grenadier, boombot combatfabricator t2 botfactory: slammer, bluehawk, gil - e , adv combat fab. ( meh) t1 vehicle fac. ant, spinner inferno t2 vehicle leveler, vanguard, sheller t1 air hummingbird, bumblebee, firefly t2 air kestrel, hornet, transport ( which i forgot the name of) t1 naval pirana, narwal, orca t2 naval leviathan, stingray orbital launcher avanger, austreus, arkid orbital factory ssx, adv. satalite, solar aray may have missed a few but i count at least 31 ... one starcraft 2 faction barely has 15 units same with a command and conquer- faction ... and the unitpool is still not done yet ... factions are rather visual diversaty than anything ... even then you would see the same tactics within these factions ... soooo ... but for the most part ... no factions because of financial reasons ... and before you say steamsales valve gets a cut so te devs don´t gt the whole thing yet have to sell 6 or 7 games in a sale than what they could get when people would pay the regular price from their store .. but yea i know missing qualit and stuff ... i am just saying ...
