Probably the most helpful tutorial I've watched till now. It explains the relationships among these important variables in order to choose the correct settings when doing planetary imaging. Thanks a lot for sharing in KZitem.

Only started on planetary imaging recently and just found your posts on here. These are excellent, very clear and easy to understand.

I find that the higher gain gives grainier images as well as brighter images. I find that higher exposure gives you brighter image per frame as well as a blurrier image because of planetary (Jupiter & Saturn) rotation. I find that the final stacked image is brighter than the individual, original frames. I find that lower gain will give you less grain as well as less bright individual frames, lower exposure will will give you clearer images as well as less bright individual frames and the final (Registax6) stacked image of these clearer, dimmer individual frames will yield a near perfect "brightness", and very clear image. And I CANNOT recommend enough the use of a Bhatinov mask for proper and correct focus. Do not depend on your eyesight alone to achieve perfect focus.

Hi, I am using Fire Capture with a ZWO290MC. Is it best to tun the gain right down then adjust the exp to give me my maximum frames then increase the gain to set my histogram level ?

Are you tracking the planet with an equilateral mount?

+stimuli15 I use both alt/az and EQ mounts. I prefer EQ because it eliminates field rotation. I talk a little about it in my Equipment Needed video. planetaryimagingtutorials.com/getting-started/

Its like one of the films from high school that put the entire class to sleep.
