Thanks, its a makita RT0701C 900watt I got it used on ebay and these things can take a beating, havent felt the need to upgrade to a vfd spindle yet and my wallet has been thankful

@@curiouscreations1 I have a 1.5kw water cooled spindle mounted in a 3 axis 1.2nm hybrid motors machine, do u think this is gonna be enough to cut steel?
@curiouscreations1

@@emmanueldeleon5847 The spindle will cut it with carbide tooling, whether or not you break lots of tools tho will depend on the rigidity of your machine and dialing in your feeds and speeds, trochoidal toolpaths help alot as does coolant. Ill say this, keep your expectations low and be prepared to deal with some nasty chips, my machine can cut steel but its not exactly a fun experience

I'm trying to imagine a super light fly cutter doing 9K rpm, but it's hard...

How much RPM you used? pretty impressive cut!

Around 9k rpm the lowest setting on the spindle, 4 flute carbide 1/4" endmill. Thanks for watching!

@@curiouscreations1 and the depth of cut? your machine handled pretty well!
@curiouscreations1
2 ай бұрын
@@915breno Around .3 or .4mm if I remember correctly filmed this a while ago, 50% step over. This cut was optimal in terms of rigidity for a gantry machine like this, the less the z axis is extended the better, rigidity drops off seemingly exponentially the farther down the spindle is extended due to leverage. Something to keep in mind.

why are you using food safe grease? (white grease)
@curiouscreations1
2 ай бұрын
This is white lithium grease definitely not food safe, it was recommended in the printnc wiki. The rails and ballscrews are often exposed to very high humidity where I live, Ive found the grease sticks to rails well and prevents corrosion when not run for a while.

@@curiouscreations1 Huh, okay . here in europe white grease means food safe. guess it's not world wide.
