Hi Eddy (and Eddy's dad). We (Lawrence and Vicky) met you at the end of day 3 in Sourlies Bothy - you were jealous of our ultralight chairs! You left your youtube channel details on the other camper's map so I thought I'd see how you were getting on. Nice video by the way, lots of wise words. You left before us the following morning but we met you later descending from Mam Unndalain on that extremely wet day - the rivers were impassable and all the burns in full spate. After I helped you get your rucksacks across that burn, we started heading uphill together with the plan of reaching Mam Barrisdale and then a less hazardous route to the bothy. You must have changed your minds however as we didn't see you again. The path from Mam Barrisdale had bridges so we made it to the bothy and had a relatively good night. We thought about you frequently and hoped you'd found an acceptable place to spend the night. I note from your video you had a tent up for the job but finding somewhere suitable must have been a challenge. A great advert for the tent if you had a dry night. We reached Shiel Bridge the following day (Wednesday 5th August) and spent Thursday (27 deg C) enjoying the weather. That was as far as we had planned to go so left on Friday 7th and were pleased to meet the couple from the Czech Republic (they were on the same boat from Ft William) who said they had seen you camped at Barrisdale. This was good news. You'd obviously got through the night and had decided to carry on (rather than abort to Inverie ). I hope you managed to dry out and are continuing on your journey. If you are then full marks, you're made of tough stuff and I/we look forward to reading all about the rest of your trip.

Great tip on the OS map...I've got the book and map but the OS has a bigger and better view for navigation if the weather gets bad. I'm gonna get one now. Thank you. Great info on your video.

Renegade Scot thank you so much, it was such an epic journey. That’s a shame you had to bail, but I know you will return to complete it and I will be waiting to see that Vlog because I know it won’t be long before you get back to it 💪🏽 It really is tough going at times marching through that bog! 😅

Looking ready, tips from many years of dofe leading: don't skimp on your socks, cheapest way to get more comfort. Loosen all your pack straps and tighten them under the full load, particularly the adjusters at the top of the shoulder straps.

Thanks for this! My husband & I are planning to hike the CWT in 2022. We are watching your video series of your adventure with your dad. Very interested in your complete kit list and to see how you rate the meals you brought along. As far as shoes go, hubby & I are both trail runner fans, though we both also have boots. Now that you’ve already had your adventure, are you still sticking with boots being the best option for this trail? Would love to hear your thoughts on this. Cheers!

Edward, you forgot your footwear! On the clips you already posted I think I saw you wear boots aswell as trail runners. Which are better on a trip like the Cape Wrath Trail? I have always used boots, but understand that a lot of people use trail runners on trails where there are many stream/river crossings. Thanks for the posting btw. I really enjoyed them.

I totally forgot to show them. I had them beside me as well but because I was going through everything from the table they escaped me. I would always go for boots, you will see from my trip there was a couple of times I slipped and fell especially on rocky or boggy terrain. I know a lot of people opt for trail runners, but me personally, I think it would be taking a risk on your ankles. The other shoes I had were just little water shoes, so they weren't good for walking but I swapped into these for the major river crossing just to keep my boots dry.
