Personally I think if you start with pleasing palats, stomachs, and ease of making (get the public to like some recipes first - vegan curious lol!) may make transition less political and intimidating. Also if can teach small space gardening etc. to introduce people to growing even a small amount of food, may help too. Thank you for new recipes.

My grandma has been making different kinds of seitan for years, most of my family is vegan but she’s stopped making the seitan because it was making her sick. I’ve always wanted to know how she made it but I DID NOT understand how she could boil a dough????? And for some reason I never looked further into it. I love that you did this! For me, the best method is steaming, sometimes something goes wrong when cooking. 400gr -500gr. Seitan in steam for about 45 minutes. Seitan should not be eaten every day, but should be served like meat 1-2 times a week and always with a lot of fiber.

Wow I am reading the comments. I am an almost 22 year old vegan and vegetarian, so back then it was not as popular as these days and while people thought I was crazy then ,I dont think its wrong if a person eats meat. Its a preference. Neither is right or wrong. Vegan diet is a plant based diet so its not fake meat, its recreating the the texture in plants to achieve meatier styles of cooking and its not just about recreating meaty textures. I did have to use meat re-placers to stop eating meat, that came later.Just like I dont like gluten , my son has allergies to gluten so that is my preference so this recipe isn't for me. Its just that simple.

As a vegetarian and now long-time vegan (combined 40+ years), I would agree with you. A steak was originally a thick cut of meat, but we have adopted the word to mean a thick cut of anything, specifically, vegetables. But that is what people do. Look at how we have adopted the words "cloud," "virus," and "follow" into the electronic world although these words have nothing to do with the tech landscape.

I also added a tablespoon of olive oil. Also, whizz the puy lentils on their own, first, before adding other ingredients (and a tip about them... they don't keep! So use up the rest or freeze them.

@Cross Fyscongratulations on your journey, you can become a vegan right away if you want to, like I did it. It is the only ethical, sustainable, and healthy way to cohabit this planet. As for your overweight, you ought to do intermittent fasting immediately. The changes/improvements will start after the 16th fasting hour. Personally I do 20/4 or even 23/1 one meal a day. It's not hard and I will do it till the last day of my life. Good luck 🤞

"Why all vegans want so much to make vegetables taste like meat! Reee!" "So, why your chips taste like BBQ?"

I don’t get it, you just made a case for those who make the criticism. To answer your question, cause meat is fucking delicious and veggies don’t come close. It is unfortunately the truth.

@@v-22 The meat is delicious because of fat and umami. You can have both of these things without meat. THAT'S the truth.

@@realswobby I’ve seen the documentaries and I’ve tried everything in the market. Nothing comes close to the real thing... again, very unfortunate but we’ll get there one day.

@@v-22 Well, it's not really easy in home environment to replicate a real meat with all its flavors, structures ect. But I believe that eating and making it enjoyable doesn't have to mean making a product in 100% close to the original thing, because if not then "it won't be satisfying enough"... It's true that people are addicted to flavors and food structures. It's also true that we can come up with other substitutes for the original products. At the end, we all can just choose what we want to support with our own free will.

I have and it's the best vegan meat I've ever eaten. I totally recommend it. I've shared the recipe with my friends.
