Such a great plant. Removed a 6+ foot piece from a 3ft tank last week! My DIY clay kitty litter substrate mix. Our cat Tigger loves to eat it. Grabbing trimings and running away with it trailing behind her. Or i wrap it loosely around her neck and she has a portable, edible collar.

Great information & video Sir. Could you recommend a cheap light to grow the val plants? Also what's the light hours for growing? When using the root tabs in individual pots or like fully planted tank with only val... how much do you need to use & how often to replace it? Using DIY osmocote & commercial root tabs if using separately? 👍👍👍👍👍
@BlakesAquatics
2 жыл бұрын
a great cheap option are hardware security floodlights. 8 hrs per day. 1 tab per pot or as directed on the packet, replace when plant starts to look lacking in nutrients or slow down.

In my case I find when I first plant it, it melts but will come back. I also find that if I cut a stem half way down then over time that whole stem will die off, I'm not sure why.

I see on some videos you can grow it just on sand with no root tabs.just liquid ferts. I don’t think that it’s like that but for you sir u sounds more experienced.does this plant need root tabs? Would fluval substrate work? Does it need liquid ferts?
@BlakesAquatics

Definitely need root tabs for it to grow and survive in sand 👍 good lucl

You just cut it at the desired height, the ends will basically scar and not grow from the cut
