Oh my goodness! I'm 68 & my Mom died over 10 years ago. My Mom was in her 90's when she passed. My Mom, Uncles & older sisters all worked at the Canary trimming & packing Pineapples. They wore those white caps when working & they all smelled like Pineapples when they came home! Wow..thanks for the flash from the past & the great memories!

Wow. Beef stew.. While watching you guys eating i am getting hungry. Your mom is so sweet, so calm, very soft spoken. I think when you said "there's no recipe" i am just like that, my kids asked me how to cook this and that i said sorry i do not have the exact measurements and doesnt have recipe its all about the ingredients inside the fridge. Eyeballing seasoning too, just like how your family cooks. I mean a good chef has no recipe. 😅😅😅 it's all mommy's love. I do love watching your videos with your parents. I wonder what your dad favorite food to cook for you guys while growing up. And I saw your dad took a kitchen towel and start drying the dishes. hehe. He is such a good sweet helper.. Maybe one day you can let your dad share his favorite food and show his cooking skills. Thank you. Congrats🎉 for reaching 5K subscriber.

Look so good I also add round onion and garlic in my stew. I discovered better than beef buillion I get it from Costco, no msg that adds to flavor. I’m pretty sure no msg the chicken version just as good. Oh and I add a little sugar supposed to cut out the bite of tomato sauce. But love having your mom on your videos. I’m pretty sure I saw one of your uncles at taniokas today. And congratulations on your five thousand subs. Thumbs up❤

Your stew recipe is so close to my Mom's stew. Nothing like a good pot of stew! I love to see how your family casually walks back and forth behind you and your Mom. It can be done in a slow cooker and instant pot (still brown the meat for both versions) too. Fond family memories and passing it down to the next generation is what it is all about. 'Ohana no ka 'oi.
@Caritaira

Haha thanks! My family still gotta do their thing even though we're filming. There's just too much going on in the house. Using a slow cooker and/or instant pot is a good idea. It will cut down on the prep time for sure (well at least the instant pot would).

Which cut of beef do you use? My siter uses Chuck roast. In the past we have used "stew meat" labeled by super markets and costco. the meat gets tough and stringy.

Is it better to make it in dutch oven pit over stainless steel? Did you add the bay leaf?
@Caritaira
Жыл бұрын
We actually didn’t add in the bay leaf… didn’t need… but I don’t think it matters between the Dutch oven or stainless steel pot. It probably just depends on how long you cook it.
