How to set up a window flower box without attaching it to the building. We use some basic concrete blocks as stands and a large wooden planter close to the size of the window.
We used pea gravel for the planing drain base, miracle-gro raised bed soil as the under layer and miracle-gro potting mix as the top soil around the existing potting soil.
We planted some Calla lilys, Asiatic Lilys and a couple Mandevillas to create some great color and fullness.
However, after recording the video we learned that these plants are toxic to cats and the four homeless cats that live in our parking lot would be at risk. So we had to take them out and replace them with some nontoxic flowers that were not nearly as nice.
We demonstrate how to cut the concrete blocks to fit the planter and space it up next to the window.
It is a simple weekend project if you want to add some color to your home or office. In our case, Mr Dog Poop wanted to see flowers outside his office instead of an old parking lot.
