Shame I didnt bump into you Ollie, would have been nice to meet you in person and thank you for all the very helpful content you put out there on your own time as well as run your company, have made several purchases notably idig and engcon based on your videos, was very inpressed with the idig 3d that was well demonstrated by Neil at digtec (who we got the idig and engcons through) and will no doubt be investing in one shortly considering the cost and capability against its rivals, was also very very impressed with the new CAT's (only looked at them because of another review you did) especially the 6t one, the arm was almost as big as our kubota 8t's, they really have upped their game with these and left some other players standing with them, shame some of the big players weren't at the show, one of the little gems I did find however was the moasure stand, incredible bit of kit for under £500 with the time its going to save us! Keep up the good work and hopefully bump into you in the future, some of these companies should be throwing their kit at you to try!

Thanks, I try to make videos I would want to watch and hope others do too. Glad my reviews have helped you to improve your business and hopefully that translates into making more money! I could have done another day at least at Plantworx and still not seen everything I wanted to - so although there was less shiny metal to look at with many manufacturers not there, I found (and sounds like you did too) that there was still plenty of smaller items to get your hands on. What did you think of the new Kubota 8 tonner? Sounds like you own one of the older models?

Good vid ollie. I was impressed with auger torques crusher bucket too, we had the craic with one of their reps and the price we got was very good. I suggested they put some holes in the sides of the drum (and an adjustable collar) so they could have more control of the crush size and allow it to eject bigger lumps. Therefore upping the crushing rate per hour and getting more of a 6f2 size material. It was a good show, but there were a few bucket/attachment manufacturers that weren't there that i wanted to see.

I agree, the simplicity of it, along with the price is a big draw, but I do wonder with the way it is designed if you would get much bigger than a 10" lump into it, and I've been thinking about the size of demo material I would be looking to crush - ideally without having to use the breaker to smash it all up smaller first or that kinda defeats the point

I think the concept is good, but still open to modification and adapt. If the drum was stepped it would accept bigger material, load quicker and be easier to make it crush to different sizes. But then they'd loose the ability for it to go on smaller machines. My idea would mean the smallest machine it would suit would probably be a 6 tonner.

Thing with the kx 85-5 is it’s 75 grand !, a 80-4 in 2018 was just under 50k. The dash 5 isn’t a 25 grand more money machine imo, I’ve not driven one but if it’s still as slow as the dash 4 it’s not worth it’s money. The tilt rotator on it was 35k and we priced a steel wrist which is 25k.

You're not wrong, machines seem to have jumped an entire price bracket in the last few years. I cant say I've been able to charge the same percentage more on my labour costs! I think the smart owner will run some machines in their fleet's for longer, and only change some of the frontline machines when needed, rather than in the past, its been easy to swap machines every 3-5 years. The margin just isn't in the work to keep up with the inflation

Great vid Ollie, anything interesting from JCB here this year?
@Olliegunns

JCB were amongst several other big names who didn't attend this year, which was a shame, but I found there was still plenty to see at the show and I still didn't see everything I wanted to throughout the two days I was there, let alone film everything!

There is only one crusher bucket worth buying!! And that’s a MB !!!
@Olliegunns

Do you have one James? I'm keen to hear from people who run these buckets and on what size machine. I'm told that those MB buckets are great on 13t upwards but the smaller machines I run don't have the oil flow to really keep them going. Something to do with the way they crush? vs the BAV jaw type

You're not wrong, but in terms of how many people were constantly looking around it throughout my time there, it was one of the more popular machines for sure. And its good to have a clickbait title on a video!
