Planted a Fire Barrel seed 15 years ago. It’s still in a 6” pot! The spines are beautiful, but deadly! I’m hoping it will hit its stride soon and bulk up. I’m sure they grow much faster in ground. Lovely work you’ve done. 😺✌️

Oh thanks so much Christian! We have a few small fire barrels in pots and they are sooooooo slow-growing! We'll be glad to put one in the ground! Hoping you get a growth spurt with your fire barrel 🤞🏽

Hi Shy-fun video! I loved seeing your new succulents and cacti. Your garden bed is coming along beautifully. I never heard of the boiling water trick for weeds. We have one small gard3n bed and years ago I made the mistake of planting mint and pulling it out forever. Definitely mint needs to be in a pot!!!

Thanks Molly! Someone mentioned boiling water in the comments, and then I came across it again when looking up how to get rid of onion weed. They are so hard to pull out by the roots- I'll see how it goes! 🤞🏽

All the beds look great! 25:05 Instead of the smaller container gardens you used to make and keep on your balcony, you now have giant containers. Those Agave ‘Blue Glow’ are gorgeous. Nice plant haul, too.

Plastic sheeting can be used to block tree roots from invading a garden. Is good barrier preventing roots from spreading unwanted areas. Which is great for gardening. I like having less grass in the garden and more concrete. Since i have allergies aswell and cutting grass is such a hassle too.

Good tip. I will have to look into options for plastic sheeting. Thank you!

I knew the portulaca would perform super well in ground. They propagate easily from cuttings too. They will reseed too, but probably won't come back true to the parent. Are mangave as popular in Australia as they are here in the States? It seems like everyday there is a new type of mangave hitting the market.

I'm surprised the portulaca don't have mealy yet (knock on wood). They were mealy magnets on my balcony, so they must be super happy campers where they are. Mangaves are around, but I only tend to see the super common ones- mission to mars, lavender lady etc. I have to say I don't love them as much as agaves. I only have one! Toothfairy :)

We've put some in a pot, but it's incredibly invasive so I'd prefer not to have it in the garden beds.
