My favourite set of Waterloo figures. Managed to buy a sealed box off Ebay recently. They will be staying sealed for my collection as I now fortunately have the full Waterloo box set. Napoleons best troops by far.

Beautiful figures - if only Airfix had used this sculptor to make (or retool) the other Waterloo sets...... As it is, these superb guardsmen appear smaller than their comrades in the Line regiments!

I was more annoyed at the colour of the plastic! Awful

Nice review, Thanks! These have always been a Sentimental favorite. I still have the originals I got in '75 and they're still an important part of my Guard Corps. I know what you mean about the clubbing figure and I don't know why manufacturers insist all including that pose. I'd rather have an aggressive figure with the bayonet. Thanks again looking forward to the next video

Lovely set... i remember the wounded guys were really hard to paint! IIRC the 1975 stand-alone box had grey plastic soldiers instead of white.

I would have prefered the grey plastic Mark!

Yes I remember having the grey set back in 1976. Airfix always had sense to do their figures in the best colours WW2 allied forces in green and Germans in grey plastic for example.

Lots of "flesh" in this set! I had a set of Airfix IG from the 80s and it was one of the best, with crisp detail and no flesh at all.

Getting tired this set, be nice if airfix release in vintage classics but of higher quality plastic and better maintenance of the mould

Have you seen the French Imperial Guards for ESCi ( # 214 ) or Italeri set ( # 6972 ) which are identical to each other ? I prefered their quality more than this Airfix which i owned but sold it on eBay as the result of lower quality of the soldiers compare to the above companies. Having said all of this, the Most beautiful French Imperial Guard were published by Zvezda ( # 8030 ). Best Regards,

I quite agree, they have some lovely kits

I think Italeri used a lot of the molds from ESCI when producing their own figures, I remember buying the WW2 German fallschirmjager back in 1993, and the later Italeri set are identical if I remember rightly as the majority of the poses are not great.

My least favourite Airfix Waterloo set, and the only one I never painted despite owning a box. Completely out of scale compared to the other Napoleonic figures, except perhaps the cuirassiers.

I'm thinking why ALL the French figures in that set are white.....to match their surrender flag....hahaha
