So the 2PAC "Changes" is Bruce Hornsby "The Way It Is". A couple that I really like are "I Ain't Mad At U" by Pac again which is a Debarge sample and Jay Z "Somewhere In America", I really like the diminished chords on that one. Thanks!!!

It nice the way you cover the whole spectrum of music from Taylor Swift to Tupac. It also keeps playing the piano interesting when you all kind of music. The fun fact about it is you started out as a classical pianist and now your jamming Dr Dre. That's why I'm sticking to Pianote lessons because I want to play all kinds of music. I especially want to be able to play piano songs to the way I feel at the time. Thanks !

For anyone watching this, if you want Still D.R.E. to sound even better, play the right hand notes as an ascending staccato roll, rather than a solid chord. That's how it's done on the album. :)

@Scorpious187

@@nimazsheik5152 Lol! Apologies... I didn't really know how else to word it. But essentially, you play the first note of the chord, the middle note, and then the last note in a very fast upward rolling motion, releasing each note immediately as you play it. If your hands hurt from doing it repeatedly, you're doing it right, lol.

Even though wouldn’t know rap music if I fell over it, this was a clever idea for a tutorial. Hope you do some 90s house piano riffs one day....( rock da house, ride on time etc..) although I now realise a lot of them weren’t played ( they were sampled chords on single keys etc).....it’s what got me interested in piano originally anyway 😁

Hey, Lisa, I love your vids. Awesome content. Anyway, I grew up with Hip Hop and Soca/Reggae/Rock/Grunge Rock/Classical music etc...and I assume that many commenters here already mentioned the fact that the piano riff in Tupac's 'Changes' was sampled from a song from over 10 years earlier in 1986 --- "The Way It Is" by the group 'Bruce Hornsby and the Range'. If you haven't already checked out that official music video, you should really do so. Bruce Hornsby kills it on the piano...and the lyrics are very powerful, serving as a social commentary. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, I think their song hit #1 on the Billboard Charts back in 1986.

Just an addition on the Dr Dre song....it’s officially played a little different. You can watch videos of the producer who made the piano riff, Scott Storch (known as the piano man of hiphop), and plays it with only white keys (which is actually easier to learn also). Chords are: A minor, A sus2, and G major. He also produced a lot of other songs so definitely look those up. Have fun!

I returned to this video after managing to play „still Dre“. No I am trying „same love“. I really like this video and it helped me with my very first steps knowing nothing about playing the piano. The feeling I have when I play the riff (?) correct for the first is absolutely stunning. Thank you for teaching me. I‘d really like more Macklemore or other easy rap classic. The only thing I find a bit hard is to get the notes right as I have no clue about it. Maybe you can slow this a bit down or show something like e minor first then c or whatever. Anyway - thanks a lot

As a gigging musician I appreciate the accelerating dumbing down of music as it makes my job a lot easier. Unfortunately the next generation of "musicians" won't have much work unless they are content to drag and drop beats or talk simple polyphonic four bar riffs into their DAW midi system to pump out forgettable synthetic garbage. I teach guitar at a company that once had a number stores in the region with lines of kids waiting for lessons or to rehearse their bands. Now they have one location and barely enough students to keep the doors open. Competition in my line is also dwindling and for that I am grateful. It's amazing to realize virtually all the musicians on the scene are 50 and older! Kids are stroking their phones all day, lack any focus and are sitting around working on their diabetes and a shortened life span. I don't need the money so I don't have to accept the PC BS and sit around smiling, lying and ignoring the observable truth. Everybody else can just keep up the happy talk and play pretend because they need the KZitem clicks.

Hi Andrew, as a young lover of music I think your being closed minded and making generalizations about the youth, especially when you mentioned that line about diabetes. There are great popular young artists releasing music nowadays: FKJ, Tom Misch, Yussef Dayes, Billie Eilish, Jacob Collier, Monty Booker, Domi & JD Beck to name a few. I understand where you’re coming from, but the music scene is changing, and I recommend you stay open minded.

Do you have a trick to playing a complicated song that almost sounds like you’re playing two different songs with each hand? My issue is I practice the left hand and do it very well, then I practice the right hand and it sounds great but we I need to play both at the same time my brain short circuits.
