When I was young I had these guys along with Pure Prairie League and Ambrosia all in my "guilty pleasures" category, but with age I realized how good they were and how great this song was/is.

Many don't know when Pure Prairie League broke up, their lead singer went to full on country and went on to grab 21 Grammy Awards, more than any other male country music artist. Vince Gill did good!

Vince Gill was not the lead singer on the song Amie - which came out in 1972 when Vince was only 15 years old. He was the lead singer for the band later in the early 80's and sang lead on an updated version of the song. But he was not the lead singer on the original version that we all know.

Pablo Cruise, Wow! He was one of the opening acts to the first concert I ever attended and the very first concert at Giants Stadium in 1978. Stanky Brown and he opened for Steve Miller Band and The Beachboys. What a beautiful day it was in June and what a great time fI had at the concert titled Almost Summer.

lol! I remeber this song from back when. I was at a club with 2 cousins and one was a lot tipsy. When thissong came on she stood up and leaned on the table and sang VERY LOUDLY, "BABY COME BACK!" and FLIPPED the table onto herself! I remember she was drinking Harvey Wallbangers and kept saying they were Harvey Ballbangers. Oh, good times! lol! NOW we are GRANDMOTHERS!

1978 my son was born, my daughter is now 45, my son 43. She was 3, he about to be born when this song was #1 on the charts. Oh the years of my youth and I was 28 then. A pleasure for my ears and still gives me goosebumps.

Holy cow...you're on the Yacht Rock ride of a lifetime if you keep this up. So many geat songs and artists from the late 70's to early 80's. Paul Davis, Ambrosia, Pablo Cruise, Seals and Croft, Christopher Cross, Gino Vanaelli etc. All worth checking out for this type of cool vibe.

Indeed Karen - there were quite a few great "one hit wonders" from the 50's to the very early 90's even, that you just never seem to hear anymore, even on reaction vids. Thankfully for me, I still have a lot of them on vinyl . . . (Showing my age now, aren't I - lol . . . ) - Always thought about doing a music channel for a long time showing these along with many more - so maybe now is the time while I can . . .

Player is a band who's only hit song was this one. But it reached the top of the pop chart and is remembered by many. It was even in the soundtrack of one of the Transformers movies.

I was about 12 or 13 when this song came out and it was played constantly on the local radio. I recorded it from the radio and listened to it about a million times and never tired of hearing it. Until KZitem came along I had never actually seen the band but when I did see them my first reaction was 'what? They're white?' Yes, I'm white too but in my mind I had always pictured that they were a black soul group. Either way a fantastic song and a fantastic reaction - as always.
