Pure gold at about 13:57! Many instructors will tell you golf is a left handed swing. Mike will tell you, you’re right-handed, train the right hand first.

Was just coming on here to say this is gold lol I’m at the 10:46 mark. I’ve been trying to land more on my lead ball of foot then push back but by that time my knee is further in front. This makes more sense to me but still gotta try it.

Wow, ah-ha moment for me at 10:03 "The Left Hip moves back to meet the Right Hip" I've watched your other Hip videos many times but never appreciated this. I've been concentrating on trying to tip the club out and thought my Hip movement was ok. I tried to focus on the left hip moving back to meet right hip when I was out on the course and whilst it wasn't intuitive I certainly played much better than usual. Can't wait to get the range to work on this. Thanks

Wonderful to see how happy she is when it "clicks", what a delightful lady (super golfer and a great giggler :) ). Equally pleasing to see how much Mr Malaska enjoys seeing a pupil benefitting from his instruction. I'd put this in the top videos on KZitem as far as golf instruction is concerned, informative, easy to follow, simple to perform and they are having FUN. Thank you so much,.

Fantastic video. I have noticed with many of the best U Tube instructors that the toes of the front foot foot lift up through impact, as demonstrated here. I have been having trouble with pain in the outside of my front ankle after impact, probably because of keeping my ankle too rigid. I look forward to doing this front hip and front toes move. God Bless you, Mike Malaska.

I think Ashley is going to need constant remider for a wile to keep the right hip back aeay from yhe ball. I just found Mr. Malaska's videos a few weeks ago. And they are great. It has solidified my left hip back theory that i realized a month ago to stop me from hitting the ball fat all the time. Keeping the right hip back while rotating the left hip out of the way actually moves your lower body and bottom of swing arc ahead of the ball.

I did Moe Norman's swing for a year. Pay more attention to what Moe was doing rather then saying. Moe kept his right foot on the ground which kept his right hip back. Same as in Mike's video. Moe and Mike are virtually teaching the same thing. Just using different words. Moe had a week left hand and a very very strong right hand. This is why Moe said he had the feelng of his right palm facing up on the down swing. I recently saw one of Mike's videos where he swung the club like a baseball bat. Then kept lowering each swing until he got down to the ball without changing the swing. It reminded me od the last time i played. On the 18th i had the ball 14-16 inches above me feet. I swung easy and crushed it.

Very interesting to hear Mike’s take on Hogan. A lot of instructors (e.g., Jim Hardy) claim just the opposite - that Hogan’s swing was not timing based and minimized forearm rotation. Not sure who to believe. I guess I don’t care if MY swing works. 😃
@thomasfraser9072

Most excellent video! 🫵👍👍👍👍👍👌😊 Bobby Jones years ago said to execute the downswing the small fast twitch muscles of the lead hip to pull the lead hip out of the way as this also drives the trail hip towards the target. So under the laws of physics of course the left leg pushes the hip out of the way during the exact same moment the small twitch muscles pulls the lead hip out of the way. So for my downswing I simply think of firing pulling my lead hip out of the way which then turns my trail hip towards my target. And the chain of events of the downswing happens automatically for me. Just as Ben Hogan writes in lesson 5 And believe me it works. Cheers😊🥂👍

@@golfish8589 the right hip moves in conjunction to the lead hip pulling back.
@golfish8589

@@thomasfraser9072 I am not sure what you mean by in conjunction. The trail hip should not move toward he ball at all. Or as little as possible. Mike is not teaching that the spine in the hip area is the center of rotation. Mike is pulling back on the lead hip. He is not pushing on the trail hip at all. The trail hip will move toward the target as the left hip goes back. The two are connected so when the lead hip goes back It pulls the trail hip with it. Going back to the spine in the hip area not being the center of rotation. Mike is pulling he lead hip straight back. He is not making the lead hip rotate around the spine, That would push the trail hip toward the ball and crowd that area. Early extension. Watch mike's hips when he demonstraits. If he lead hip rotated around the spine. then the lead foots toes would not rise up. A picture/movie clip is worth a thousand words. Does this make sense or am i seeing it differently? Thanks ...The trail hip is almost being the center of rotation.

Great session, Mike. I've seen various KZitem videos of coaching sessions. Some tend to over-explain, others overwork the student with achieving positions throughout the swing. How do you find the balance between over-explaining/overwork positions vs. letting the student figure it out on their own during the session?

Mike, (for right handed golfers) looking at the lower right forearm above the wrist, should the radius remain aligned 'on top of' the ulna entering and exiting the impact zone; while at the same time, looking at the left lower left forearm, the radius 'trails' the ulna when entering and exiting the impact zone? Thanks!
