@@MAGAMANPATRIOT It's good to study theory even if you prefer to play by feel. Studying theory creates muscle memory in your hands, so you can automatically play more complex licks when playing by feel or improvising.

To me playing with feel is basically "note good feel, make sound loud and vibrato"
@ossiehalvorson7702

Dynamics are very important for "feel," so just playing loudly is counterproductive. Notice when he hits that chord, it's very held back, and imo that was the part he really nailed out of this whole video.

I went from thinking this was a meme, to listening to it a few times in a row, and then a few more times while singing in my head with it. And then for some reason I thought about my Grandpa who passed away a few years back. Hearing this over and over again made me think of when I got on the plane to go home after his funeral, and watching the sun set as the plane climbed high. It was a surreal moment, and I feel like this sound captures that moment in my head perfectly. Ive never seen your KZitem channel, but I’m glad I stumbled on this video. You should always play with feeling. In the great words of muddy waters "It don't matter how fast you is, how technical you is. It don't mean nothin if you ain't got the soul"
@iamme4184
2 жыл бұрын
i dont get the argument between fast vs feel, feeling is subjective and i get more feeling out of faster playing like dave mustaine solos, but to determine if a guitarist is good i think they need to have a solid understanding of being able to find notes that work great together and the ability to play intense solos which is why i believe eric johnson, joe satriani, and obviously the legendary eddie van halen are the 3 best guitarist, not my personal favorites the ones most pleasing to my ear are dimebag darrel, dave mustaine, and the only exception, john frusciante. my point is, feel is too subjective to measure because as much respect i have for someone like stevie ray vaughan, his music doesnt invoke any feeling i have but it does for others and thats fine, but playing fast/technical is a better objective measurement but with enough practice anyone with a lack of understanding of which notes sound good together can play fast, which is why i believe a balance is key to truly mastering any instrument
