Somehow I invaded the US after 1946 after establishing a two tile foothold in northern canada and built a seaport base. Every harbor in america was stacked and heavily defended with aircover. Basically turned into a Gallipoli except the americans lost thousands of aircraft and hundreds of thousands of troops trying to dilodge it. In turn they nuked a few units taking land in the carribean. I enjoyed the footnote when I was sweeping the western US that Charlie Chaplin was captured lol.

My first game was awesome... I didn't know how to do battle plans so I had to micromanage my entire army, I managed to easily defeat Poland but I struggled a little with the French cause they kept trying to encircle me, i somehow managed to rush a motorized division to an empty Paris and win. Couldn't do much against the Brits, they had a much bigger navy than mine so I could not naval invade them... (It took me half an hour to understand why my troops aren't moving from the port) but then, I looked into the infantry tech tree and I saw it... Paratroopers. I made about 12 or 16 divisions, sent all my planes on the English Channel and England and launched the attack! I somehow expected more resistance... It seems that almost all British divisions except for a small infantry one in London and a light tank division in Scotland were fighting the Italians in Tunisia and Abyssinia but I guess that's what happens when you play on civilian difficulty. And then I declared war on the Soviets... Bad idea, it took me two hours of micromanaging units to take Moscow, only for them to push me back to Poland and the fucking D day was happening when I was occupied with the Soviets, the damn Americans already liberated France and kicked Mussolini's ass. I remember my first time, was probably 2017/18 I was around my friends and we tried to do Communist Germany when we started the civil war we got like 90% of the land and the opposition had about 3 divisions and because I didn't now what frontlines were and I had it on 5 speed they just walked around my divisions to Berlin.

The Frontline system looks neat but micro'ing is probably just like hoi3. Oh, nice, this general can hold all 378 of my 14 width divisions with no guns!

My first time I defeated Poland, rushed through Benelux with my truck troops and capitulated the allies suprisingly (using paratroopers to land in Britain). It all turned to shit when Operation Barbarossa was launched, I had a -100000 gun deficit

my main strategy was to always just influence a civil war in hopes that they would pull their troops from the frontline

I haven’t actually played this game yet, but the fact that they drove straight into the maginot line was pure pain.

My first actual run was playing Chile because I didn't want to go with big nations quick. I got pulled into a war with Japan by America, developed nuclear bombs, got invaded, and gave up.

My first ever game of hoi4 was as Austria, literally all I did was researching and picking focuses without ever touching my divisions. Then Germany smashed me into the ground after I refused Anschluss. Good times

I had watched hours of HOI4 KZitem before my first game, so I went monarchist as Germany and conquered Russia but got permalocked in war with the allies because I didn’t know how to invade England properly.

My first experience: 1. Starts investing into producing the best equipment possible 2. Doesn't actually equip divisions with it 3. Tries to invade poland 4. Poland takes Berlin 5. Rage quits and never plays the game again

In my first game I knew everything besides division templates and felt like I was on a good start, and my bordering army was stated better than Polands. But when I tried attacking Poland I barely pushed in and then Czechoslovakia and Denmark tore me apart. I got so mad and destroyed the save. Then in my second game I played on civilian with German strength pre game buffs and learned about templates, yet when I tried to attack Poland they still beat me and pushed to Berlin where I just ragequited and didn't touch the game for a week

The first time I played HOI4 I placed myself on ironman and tried to replicate WW2 Germany by manually justifying on Poland, and not properly trainning my divisions, nor building anything. In the end, I couldn't proceed through Poland, and since I barely knew how to build frontlines, I woke up with the Netherlands occupying the West.
