Would you ever be able to review the Seymour Duncan Hot Rails Strat Pickups by chance? I have a strat with the Floyd rose set up but the pickups are very noisy. I’ve always wanted to metal(thrash) out a strat and since many say it is not ideal for metal like a Jackson, esp, etc.. I believe a strat could be adapted to fit any style and was recommended that these could be my best bet. Thanks, big fan of your channel.

If you had the opportunity Darrell, I would like to see a segment on Graphtec ghost pickup system with Hexpander system .you can blend acoustic saddles with your electric pickups and a synth...maybe the Variax can do something similar.....Jack Thammarat used it for a song on his KZitem page Soulful Chill Groove E Aeolian, sound was very nice, reminded me of Neal Schon Beyond the Thunder album in some respects. Jack said the acoustic sound comes from piezo bridge blended with acoustic guitar impulse response from 3 Sigma Audio with Line 6 HX-STOMP...and he talked some about the original modifications in another video....sure would like to achieve that type of sound but the modifications he was talking about seemed over the top.

I'm a sucker for light Strats and roasted maple necks. I'm chock full of great Strats and prefer traditional shapes and contours, so this wouldn't be a target for me were I in the market, but it looks interesting. Wish Darrell would feature a Charvel now and then. By the way, for those of you like myself that have been trying to find out if you can use Darrell's fret edge sanding sponge with roasted maple necks the answer is YES you can do it safely per the Warmoth guy on a couple of his videos.

Would like to see this compared to a 611/612 Yamaha Pacifica which can easily be had for $600-$700. Those are very solid guitars. They did a good job coming up with a unique but familiar body style. That's not easy.

Seems like a nice guitar but, for an "unknown" brand that comes with it's own branded pickups, I think they're a bit pricey. I went on their site and the cheapest model I could find was $1,300. Their "modern"-style guitars were all in the $2,500-$3,000 range. I would expect higher-end components and electronics for that price from this kind of company. Just my two pennies. Cheers, Darrell.

@TheEchelon

Just because you haven't heard of them before doesn't mean they're unknown. Plenty people play Vola and it's a high regarded brand. What about luthiers that build niche guitars? Their work can be super pricy and not known by many, but the quality is super high with extravagant features. And who are you to say that the components aren't high end? Just look at the block at 13:00. That's just an insane quality piece of machining. Edit: it's Gotoh, no wonder. They arguably make the highest quality hardware for guitars and are a very well known brand. Honestly says you don't know anything about high end components.. Japan is known for the highest quality capacitors etc. You don't know how they source or make their electronics/hardware... And pickups are pickups, they either work or not and if they do, they either sound nice or not (to the player). For those that can, just play the guitar at the store and see for yourself...
@iiTray

i beg to disagree with the term “unknown” they’re also in the “boutique” brand that maybe explains the price.
@shreddyz

@@TheEchelon Agreed. The complaint about "branded" components is probably one of the silliest I've heard. A $4,000 PRS is going to have all PRS in-house hardware and pickups. Silly them. Should have gone with Seymour Duncans and Schallers, I suppose.

IMHO, the Vola is too expensive for a mere "super-strat" and MIJ guitars aren't as far ahead in quality as they used to be (Burny LP's excepted).
