this is literally the best Drift video on youtube by far

Drift parameter basically works as a random detuning knob, I also noticed with some waves it also modifies a bit the amplitude of the wave. Sounds a bit better than manually detuning, but its technically the same to modulating the detune knob slightly with a tame LFO with a bit of randomness.

My thought is, adding a plugin distortion, or whatever this is, on top of the synth is killing the spirit of the synth itself and it's masking its own texture. I do however understand that adding a distortion makes bombastic sound and it makes the process easier Also, when you do that, you are getting a sound that any other synth can give you if you add distortion on top of its synth sound.

Not sure why Ableton made that thing, and why someone who has 4-5 similar VST synths should care about it. Ableton should work on its Top 30 Feature requests instead, which exist since 15+ years.

IMO there was no point for Drift. Ableton could have provided something like FLEX in FL. I would love to just start producing with stock usable sounds out of the box. I don’t want to sit and sound design. Hmm wishful thinking 😢

I mean that’s the draw of ableton. It’s a sound designer’s paradise.

The main draw of ableton is it’s workflow not that it’s a "sound designer’s paradise" (not even sure what that even means lmao)

@@trgrgtgrtgr7724 For me, I use ableton because it allows a very modular way of building instruments and sounds. How I can add an LFO to literally anything and so on. Ableton allows me endless sound design capabilities which is why I personally call it my "sound designers paradise". It also has to do with it's workflow so I definitely agree with you on ableton having a very unique workflow in session view.

its clear that drift makes sense when u use drift amount and stereo/mono etc setting. The idea was to get quick results thanks to these 2 options. U can watch seed to stage's video about it, he actually co-designed the synth.
