I think you have no motivation to achieve this dream because it is not your dream, but the dream of someone else. Make your own dream and start on his path. I know that the parents are dear to us and we must obey them and be aware of them, but when it comes to your life, you must choose it yourself, your dream, your future, and how to form your family. You must choose these things yourself. I am not telling you now that you should retreat from what you are doing, but you have to talk to yourself if this is really the thing you want to do or the thing that your mother wants to do.I wish you success in your life

Mine is the toxic academic validation. Just a week ago, I found myself getting second in almost every subject because of silly mistakes. I was shattered, I couldn't even speak without breaking down in tears. I was always the " either you are the best or useless, pick one". Compared myself with my closest friend cause I competed with her. My friends started to notice that I never opened my results until I got home. Just today, I got a 88 and someone got 92 in one of my best subject where I'm always the first. I need some advice, this is killing me

I was the "bad" kid. Fighting people and not doing my homework. But truthly I believe I was Bad and I was horrible. However I was just frustrated at bullies and try to fight them. I liked gaming a lot more than some of my school work. Then in middle school they told us that we had 4 years left of school till we live with all older young adults. So I pushed hard on my last year of middle school. Then I am at the top of the class year with A's and B's in high-school. trust me it's hard as heck. I also was never grounded for my bad grades. Just grounded for Fighting people. [P.s. update I'm graduating and life is hard but not bad]

When you feel so pressured to become top student, you retake every test below 100, redo any 'bad' assignment, write long, winding essays much longer than required, and still get compared to a sibling with worse grades. I am that kid who becomes the top of the grade with barely ever studying. But, people assume that I try hard and that they could rely on me for everything. They started to stereotype me as that nerd who they treat differently, they act very careful in front me as if they're scared I would judge them, and that made me feel very lonely, especially when I am just bad at socializing in general. I grew up having to seek academic validation to feel worthy, because people don't see me as anything more than that, even though I didn't bring this upon myself, so I actually started working to not lose my "title". However, that all changed in quarantine. I got into a slump, barely attended classes and for an entire year, I did not do ANY assignments (fr my google classroom had 140+ works on my to-do-list lol). During that moment, teachers no longer know my name, I was no longer appointed to be group captains, barely anybody wanted me in their group, basically people no longer sees me as a somebody anymore. It felt terrible back then, but hey I'm still alive and it's alright. I think that was what changed my perspective on academic achievements. When I still grinded like my life depended on it, yes I did amazing things, but I did not feel amazing inside too. So, what's the point? If high achievements must come at the expense of mental health, it's not worth it. So, now I'm a high schooler, back at the top of my class, but with a much healthier mindset. I understand that my value lies way more than academic achievements. I still study (a loooot, more actually), but now I do it without pressure. I just do my best without exhausting myself, the top student status is really just a bonus. Besides, regardless of whether or not you are a gifted kid, as a student, doing your best in studies is still a responsibility anyways.

I got an A+ in drama, but that doesn’t matter to my parents because I got an A- in health (I missed the whole unit except for the test). Even though everything else was an A.

"Everyone can make mistakes" but when you fail you get yellex at, you're rejected by society, people tell you you'll never accomplish you dreams... And it will continue after high school like... if you fail at a job you'll get fired, then you're unemployed, when you're unemployed society laughs at you... and that way people say you have no life. Like you're always expected to be perfect in everyway. I'm sick of it and at the same time I can't let go because I'll feel like the most useless piece of shit if I do

pov: you're the nice, friendly, and smart kid when you're always second in class...most of the time. You're the overthinking one, that even the smartest kid in your class always tries to make you feel better by saying you're smart. It didn't affect much, though, but I'll try to take their compliments too

I’m scared. I’ve made good grades my entire life but I’m in junior high. Things are going to get harder and if I’m bad, I’ll be a disappointment. People are talking about being great then failing. I don’t want to fail, but I want to live my own life and not be burnt out. Ive tried to be friends with all the smart kids, but I’ve been losing my friends to being quiet and too busy on work. I want to go places when I’m older, y’a know. Who dosent? The job I want requires big time schooling. I wish to be a US ambassador to france. Ive been learning French and it’s the end of the year. I feel burnt out because my t acheté are still assigning work after the big test, which were surprisingly easy.

School introduced me to reading being fun, and now I’m at a point where school has taken over my reading and general me time :/ irony at its finest

"Why do you even study? In the end it's just the same score." My mom said that earlier, while I was studying for the entrance exam for my dream school. I don't even know why I cried, is it because I study too hard and got the same results over and over again? Or the way my mom said that? It was average, I passed all my exams. But I guess she was not satisfied with it, haha.

not me listening to this and crying over my friend who is always the first person to be acknowledged as the smartest and most knowledgeable and everyone looks to her for help and is nice to her while i'm in the corner getting grades that are the same as her and never being acknowledged :') She's gonna be valedictorian while i'm second best.

Pov: You're an underrated smart person, where you get big opportunities but place the lowest. You have good grades but it doesn't satisfy you, so you started being unhealthy and forcing yourself to be in an academic validation pressure so that more people will love you and notice you.

Second place, second choice. Always treated like a winner, but still I have no voice. Second best, second worst. So close to first, but I still have that thirst. Second time, second hand. Feeling like less, every time you make your command. -just a boy who was abused for failing classes by his father and his grades started rising but his confidence started falling.

needed to wake up since i was just going with the flow these last few days. To my co-achievers there, we are born to create our own flow. We are born to be unique, we can do this. It is hard but it's supposed to be hard. Padayon!

I wouldn't say that I'm the "smart" nor "gifted student" you know. I'm never the top of the class back in elementary but now that I'm in highschool; I'm starting to achieve everything that I ever wanted. But when I became the second best, I don't even know how I'll show my face in front of the class. It's so humiliating knowing that my teachers will say stuff like "the top of the class is only good at the start" and stuff like that. I feel so down yk, but I always acted like it's fine and ever since then I never accepted failure in my life ever again.
