He still puts in more effort than some other players getting paid much , much more. Update 7/9/23: he has been stepping into the plate with no real noticeable drive to get on base. He seems unbothered just taking 3 and heading back to the dugout. This sucks because I want to see him get some RBIs. Also the Mets seemed really bummed. There is no sizzle to their game at all. Lame

Bro, he’s actually fun to watch, you get those quick dudes who always make it to the bag unless Yadi has something to say about it. This guy gives EVERYONE a chance to get him out, he’s just great to watch.

Honestly, it looks like a defeated man at the end. Before he was chugging full speed and was always out. Now he just assumes out and slows down instead of running through the bag.

As a Mariners fan, I had never heard of the guy before today. But after watching the highlights from 9/2/23, I had a feeling there’d be something like this out there. I was not disappointed.

You can add the play yesterday where he led off the bottom of the 9th with a single, and tried to stretch it to a double, and got thrown out. He was the possible tying run. It was close at second but he was out.

OBP doesn't accomplish much when you can't do anything on the bases. This national treasure needs to be trying to hit the ball 500 feet every time he gets to the plate.

Hot take: I’d say baseball players are more craftsmen than athletes. There are elite athletes in the mlb for sure (your trouts, harpers, Acuna’s, etc.) but I feel like your athletes are your true five tool players. Others are just being used as pieces in the chess game that goes on each game.
@Demoralized88

@@TCUsouthpaw That's not a hot take at all outside of baseball-only fans. They're easily the least athletic on average and it's odd that some guys get this fat.
