Hey guys,
I'm afraid this weeks video isn't as upbeat as usual, I think it has a lot to do with my state of mind recently.
Unfortunately, when you're feeling a bit mentally drained, your defences are also down meaning little things can have a much bigger impact.
With that in mind, I wanted to address the viewers that have a problem with the new direction of these videos.
As you know I've been trying new things with this channel recently. Trying to keep evolving, learning new techniques, playing with the structure, trying to add substance and trying to break out of the vlogging mould.
This new experimental stage seems to be going down like cup of sea water with some people.
Some people find it really unappealing and jarring or just flat out hate it.
But it's all me experimenting, trying to evolve as a film maker and trying to carve our own unique path in this crowded ecosystem.
I totally get that a lot of people don't like what I'm doing but there is no going back now I'm afraid.
If I'm going to keep making videos each week I need to make sure I don't fall out of love with it. And this is my way of ensuring that I don't.
Remember, I also can't force Hannah film more than she already does for the channel.
We also don't want to stick a camera in our son's face 24/7. As Gray gets older we need to respect his integrity by not turning him into a dancing monkey. His time in the videos has to be tasteful, relevant and dignified.
So I'm afraid this ginger bastard has to pick up the slack.
Some of what I'm trying might work, and some might not. The important thing is that I feel the freedom to experiment.
Anyway, for all of you that don't like what I'm doing, perhaps we should just end it here and remember the ol' good times, before I started leaning against shit and talking to the camera like a creepy arse BBC presenter.
To the rest of you that always support and encourage us, let us try, let us fail, lets us experiment, let us be ourselves, let us say what we want, let us be dicks, let us connect with you. This is as much for you as it is for our family.
Thank you for all your support with this and allowing us to evolve.
Much love,
Stef. x
PS. Sorry if the above sounded a bit mellow dramatic, this week was just a tough one for me mentally and I feel I needed to get this off my chest.
I feel a bit better now if that helps :)
