I bought 5 from 4 different suppliers and returned the lot. They couldn't even record the time correctly which gave me no confidence in the electrical measurements!

Hi, interesting video, I just got one and the same issue as you have, where is the battery,?! I thought if it's a rechargeable one then tryed leaving it plugged in over night, but still no sign of the battery's presence, Did you get any results with your own meter?.... BE interested to know what you done, Thanks... Thom in Scotland.

I’m guessing it runs of the power of being plugged in 😂

There is a battery inside. Just plug it in. I have the same one (US model). The rear says Intertek, but the front says YouThink. Same thing though.

Is it still functional? Did it explode? Many people say that smart plugs tend to explode, so I was wondering how safe is this one. Thank you

have you tried to compare the result of this device in KWh with the average rms current from your dmm over a period of 1h x 230V, to see if it actually displays apparent (VA) or real power (W)? Or at least the instantaneous displayed power vs rms current from your dmm x 230V ?

I had this plugged into my printer that was in sleep mode for a 24 hour period. When I looked at the cost it said 1.50. Probably a stupid question but is that 1.5 pence or £1.50?

its been so long since i had this item i cant remember, you would need to add the cost per Kwh for it to give you a price

I just bought one of this power meter device over the web and it arrived on the 28 Sep 2017 for GBP7.20 an approximate. Personally, I find this device kind of big. I could not find a rectangular version of it. I too got the instruction stating that there is a battery for this device, but could not find the battery compartment likewise. I am trying it out now. I also ordered another power plug meter with the green buttons, on the way thru the mail system. I want to see how much power guzzling devices that are spiking my electric bill.

Yeah it’s far too large. Should be smaller. But it’s helpful. Got it so I could tell the actual wattage and amperes of my computers while in use. Have to be careful about my max amps so I don’t trip a breaker.

I have a question...please .... if I get a 12 volts mains powered car battery charger.......and connect a 800 watts inverter ......which converts the 12 volts dc to 240 volts ac ...and power up a 500 watts desktop computer ..... will I be saving on electricity .....I am on duel fuel at the moment and pay 00.29 pence a kwh .... is it a good idea ....or I won't save anything ...? .thanks
@KevsElectricalWorkshop

Hi, It would cost you more, your charger would need to be 50A+, there is losses in converting mains to 12v and there are losses converting 12v back to 240v. Only viable options are solar or use less the latter being the cheapest option, hit high consumption units first tumble dryer/electric shower/electric hobs. im going through the same issues.

Urs shows 50hz cause u are in uk...but thats not right...ur hz will never be exactly 50...i believe the hertz does not show actual real value
@KevsElectricalWorkshop
Жыл бұрын
it probably is a dummy reading, the Hz will fluctuate slightly but the average will be 50Hz (uk) else mains powered synchronous clock would gain or loose time (if they still exist)
