HUst ran across your video. Very good informative video with nice catches!! What month was this? What months can you catch halibut there? Do tides matter much?
@TheBayAreaPlug

Halibut is around in San Mateo County Bay shorelines from around March-June. These are the times when they are closest to the shore then move back out to deeper water after. Tide is always a factor but I catch them at all tides. Depends on the spot. Low tide you can keep your eyes out for the big bubbles they create when they snatch their food off the bottom. Always look out for bubbles and jumping halibut when they are close to shore.

@@TheBayAreaPlug Hi: Many Thanks!! I greatly appreciate your comments. I'll try to get out there soon; when we get a few nice weather days. I enjoyed all your Bay Area shore fishing videos with informative commentary. My dad and I used to fish those west bay Millbrae to San Mateo areas (for perch and stripes, don't think halibut were there) way back in the mid 1950's.

Anywhere in San Mateo county where you can find mud flats and san flats. Look for areas with bait fish jumping.

Very clever editing, and fun videos with music to match. Why dont you just bleed the fish out with a cut to the gills rather than stoning it before bleeding it if you plan on eating it ? Either way dope videos ✌🏾🤙🏾
@TheBayAreaPlug
2 жыл бұрын
Because the proper way is to knock it out first. So the cut to the gills is painless. I promise I wasn't just being cruel. Lol The knockout is purely to save the fish from the pain of death. The blow to the head knocks them out instantly.
@TheBayAreaPlug
2 жыл бұрын
Also sidenote.. you must cut the gills immediately after knocking them on the head because if the fish dies before you cut the gills the blood flow can become stagnant and not flow out of the body properly.

Cruise the shorelines of the bay when it's looking calm and just pay attention to the water. Look for little boils of water in the shallows and jumping bait fish. Halibut have a tendency to jump a lot in shallow areas. Keep your eyes peeled.
