Had a stopped up sink where the clog was in the wall, and the plumber's snake wouldn't go into because it was at the T junction where the line runs down and also up to the roof. Used one of these from Harbor Freight. You could hear water running down the pipe into the basement, but also it was shooting out the pipe on the roof. Climbed up on the roof and blocked the flow with my hand and felt something give down below, and then the water started sucking down, creating a vacuum. Let it run a few more minutes and the pipe clog was gone. $9 well spent.

Most definitely lol a lot of times I have to cut into the stack connection to get my cabel to go the right way with the snake . Or I just go to the roof and run down the stack is the blockage is past the connection. I love the bladder it’s great for soft blockages. Glad you got it done man thanks for the comment

@@drainjunkies Appreciate your help. I had my septic tank pumped out & we noticed that water was not flowing back into it when we flushed several times. No sure where it is going. My question is the only drain access I have are in my home & they are coming through a wall and are plastic. I cannot tell how far they go before they connect to the cast iron. Can this bladder be used in the plastic pipes?
@drainjunkies
3 ай бұрын
@@JOEZEP54 it definitely can boss. You should have a cleanout access outside between the home and septic system. It got buried or was never installed but it is code to have a cleanout . You could have what is called a belly button in your line that is holding water preventing good flow . I would go to Home Depot or Ferguson if u have one in your area and rent a camera and open your cleanout in your home and put in the camera to inspect it . If u have any questions or need help shoot me a email or just leave another comment. Hope this helps

@@drainjunkies Thank you for your quick reply. This house was built in 1975 the outside clean out was never installed. There are 2 inside clean outs not sure what the code was back then. I pushed a snake into each one 23 ft 3" until I could not get passed the blockage. This was a hand snake not a power snake. I will check my local HD to see if the rent the camera & let you know. Do you know if the bladder will damage the plastic pipe?

@@nessgabe1050 not necessarily. It depends how far the clog is from where your working. You wouldn’t use a bladder to blow out a main line from the next floor . I use mine to flush out lines not always to clear them I snake the line then blow it out

Can using this cause a pipe to crack due to the pressure build up?
@drainjunkies

I’m sure it could if the pipe is in horrible shape and u don’t use a valve and just turn it on full blast . But from my experience and others the bladder usually pops before the pipe breaks but I’ve never used it in super deteriorated pipes. Just start slow and work you was up and keep it quite as possible around you so u can hear the pipe creak if your worried and catch it before it cracks hopefully

@@wendull811 what type of drain . A sink or a main line . U can use thrifty with boiling water and wait 30 mins or u can use Hercules and follow the instructions. They are very very strong acids. They usually will work . But running a snake is best way to go about it
@wendull811

@drainjunkies it is his kitchen sink. They tried thrifty, and that didn't work. They pulled the p trap apart, and that was fine and clean. They only had a 25 ft snake, and they didn't reach anything with that. This is why I brought up the bladder, thinking to put it directly into the pipe going into the wall below the p trap. But he didn't feel comfortable, not knowing how old the pipes are and also worrying about blowback. His shower and bathroom sink drain a little slow, but they are working fine which tells me the blockage is somewhere in that line and not the main line correct?
@drainjunkies
5 ай бұрын
@@wendull811 yeah your right man . It is between the sink and the stack if u can trace the pipe to the stack u can cut the pipe and run your snake up and down the line and just put in a fernco coupling. If u bend that small snake in a s at the send it will sweep more of the line . A lot of times that snake will work but u need to create a head somewhat at the end . If it was me and I only had what he has I would cut the pipe if possible or I would try the snake with the bend if that fail I’d use the bladder . But if he has the money to spend then just call a drain cleaner out . Or go to Home Depot and rent a snake for pest then half what u would pay the plumber
