Very nice Karl! Those CS secure x sheaths dull the crap outta a knife. I always replace them. Cold Steel sheaths are glass infused which I heard is why they dull the knife. They are not kydex which is much much better!

Great idea.dont see that everyday.i took burlap and stacked it up like micarta and wood glued the layers.i made it for the back of the sheath while the front is leather.did another like that but with glued and stacked denim.

Outstanding brother! Which version of the TrailMaster did you get? My San Mai TrailMaster came with a nylon/cordura sheath that I kinda like. Like you, I am not a big fan of kydex either.

Thank you sir! It is the San Mai version with the cordura sheath. And your right the sheath isn't too bad at all. But the first day I had it I accidentally tore the retention strap off! 🤦♂️I just really like wood sheaths.

great idea, wish we had plywood here that was of any quality, most here breaks down just from humidity, i really like your technique, nice glue nothing like that here either

Amazing work brother God gave you a great talent! That’s a beautiful piece of woodwork. And in a pinch in a survival situation you can carve it up and use it for tenderloin to start a fire :-) let’s just hope that never happens it’s too nice to give up to a fire! Thanks for the lesson and woodworking if I ever need to make one of these I’m coming back to this video. I’m looking forward to part two

That's awesome, good job! It would be cool if some day you did another with the outer 2 pieces being a different color than the center piece. Maybe the plywood in the middle and mahogany or walnut on the outside pieces? The 1 solid color looks good too but the 2 tone would be unique. Awesome scabbard!

here on wood sheaths they glue a little eye hole on the back so a string can be used for belt carry

You can put some leather or cardboard inside the plywood and it will stop rattle and help with retention a bunch. Cardboard is probably the best of the too.

I was thinking I would need to send you the knife so you might determine what would work best for carry. It has an unusual profile (it's one of a kind) so I'm not sure what might be optimal/practical. Wood/leather combo looked awesome though
