I think the whole point here is to teach understanding. No, this isn't exactly how it feels and no, not every woman experiences severe pain. But this is as close as it will ever get for a man. However, this machine doesnt simulate the hormonal and other physiological changes that many women experience and those can be just as severe. It doesn't make you less of a man to have empathy.

Not the nausea, the headaches, the gut grumbles, the shaky hands, the hot flashes, the diarrhea, the constipation, the tender boobs, and the unfortunate random depression/heightened emotions due to the low estrogen levels we have during our periods, which causes mood swings. When the pandemic hit, I was laid off for about 4 months, and I got to lie in bed and sleep through my periods. Best feeling EVER! I wholeheartedly believe that women should be resting and focusing on ourselves as much as possible during that time. I now make sure I have meals prepped, and the house orderly and spotless before my period, because I purposely do as little as possible. And for women with husbands and children you have put your foot down and be firm in the fact that will not be giving 100% during this time.

It’s different for everyone though! I don’t have period pain, and I feel badly for those that do. I cannot simply lie down and do nothing during that time, that wouldn’t work well for me. I was still walking when getting to the hospital (since I was used to the pain from cramp pain), so people still took it, not that seriously. It was only after I got an MRI that they rushed me to the er. They had to do 2 surgeries on me since I had some much puss. They also took 30 cm of dead intestine from me. When I used to get a period, I had debilitating cramps. The first day, most months, I wouldn’t go to school when I was in high school. If I had to work, depending on what job I had, I had to call in sick because I’d be bleeding so heavy and curled into the fetal position with the heating pad no matter how hot it was outside. But most times, like she said, I got up and pushed through it because I had shit to do. What else is there that you can do? Men think we’re making this up. I’m glad these big tough guys helped to educate people. I lost my ovaries, one at 33 and the other at 34. I’m 50, now, this October I’ll be 16 years post menopausal. And while it’s caused so many other health issues because it’s aged me prematurely on the inside and I’m more like a 70 year old, I don’t miss my period at ALL. I couldn’t even tell when I was having contractions with my kids because, for me, it was like mild cramps and I ignored them even though the nurses thought they were big ones. That’s when you know it’s bad and you have issues. Not anymore, thanks. I’ll deal with the other medical issues

But yeah I have endometriosis too, and thankfully the doctors gave me pills that help make it more like a normal period, but before that I would sometimes get cramps so bad I had to lie down and (literally) *writhe* in nonstop pain for hours, wondering if I was dying and wishing I would pass out. Ibuprofen takes 30 minutes to kick in, and they can come on so suddenly and then I'm unable to stand. There's no way in Hell I'd survive childbirth for so many reasons, even if I had ANY intention of ever doing it, which I don't, partially due to trauma and also because I have simply never wanted that. Even when I was getting periods sporadically, I wasn't surprised at the cramps because I knew they would come. Personally, mine didn't get worse, they stayed about the same as always. It's the OTHER symptoms that surprised me. Like the severe hot flashes every 5 minutes I suffered for 2 years of the perimenopause stage. All of a sudden I would just feel like I was inside an oven and dump sweat so bad that I would have to take a towel with me everywhere I went because that's how much I would sweat. No sooner would that hot flash dissipate and another one would hit. Around the clock, every 5 minutes for 2 long years. I hated it so bad. I'm not even including the wild mood swings, the weird chin hairs that start showing up, the weight gain and on and on. The one thing good I can say about this stage of my life is that I am almost done with it. I thought this part of my life would be great but perimenopause is a whole new fresh hell. That “your boss don’t give a fuck” part hit me deep. 🥺 doesn’t help that my period is irregular so I can’t tell when it comes in the month and that when I try to call out, I’m required to find someone to take my shift, if I can’t, I have to come in. And if I get a bad review, I get punished for it. My boss said it’s unfair that the customers get ur bad attitude. When all I did was my job, I may have an angry face but that’s because I’m in pain and angry I’m out the house. My boss is aware of my condition and I’ve shared my experiences of fainting in public when I’m on so idk why it’s still so hard to get some damn time off when I’m on. She’s absolutely right, well her shirt is. Period pains like mines are not normal and I don’t like birth control. There’s something wrong. And after watching all the documentaries about food and sugar and processed foods and fda, cdc and etc today, it’s certainly changed my view of them in a bad way. Just thinking about it makes me feel duped. But also …. What’s the product she’s selling? Cuz I want it.

The point of the exercise was for people to understand how painful PMS convey while individuals are still expected to go to school, go to work, perform functional daily living skills, etc. etc. etc. The issue is that often times, people.”perceive” those who suffer from severe cramps as making it more of a big deal than it really is and this includes some doctors!!! In my frustration, I research 🧐… for those of you who were born with an estrogen overload (& developed early) - do NOT take any “vitamin” D supplements!! “Vitamin” D is Actually estrogen, testosterone & progesterone all rolled into one pill - you are inadvertently making your estrogen overload worse!! I know from personal experience - once I stopped taking it, period flow Only happens for 5 days instead of 26 days!! I am not exaggerating my results of this - the cramps are so much more manageable!! PLEASE for the love of all you consider sacred, increase D through your diet - your body will thank you for that!!

@@hollyharvey1986 I was able to get the agony organ yeeted a few years back and it's literally life changing. No more vomiting and fainting from agony every month. Tips for you:wear or pack a dress with you when you go to the hospital for the surgery, you absolutely will not want to fuck with pants and bloating at the same time. Bring a pillow or squishmallow with you to put between you and the seatbelt for the ride home. Putting rice in a tube sock and tying it off and then microwaving it for a minute will really help with the shoulder gas pain. The pain meds can back you up, so make sure to hydrate and have fiber supplements bc straining is something you absolutely do not want to do. Having a "nest" area with all your essentials like meds/water bottles/snacks is helpful, as is something you can brace your arms on to get up (I was very keenly aware if I'd accidentally used abs at all, make sure to avoid that). Wet wipes will help a lot with feeling clean if you don't have the energy to actually shower, since anesthesia exhausts you. Oh! And those reading pillows with the arms are fantastic for keeping you propped up and not rolling in your sleep (I'm normally a stomach sleeper). You'll probably be warned to keep an eye out for UTI symptoms, cranberry supplements help as another line of defense against those. Congratulations and best of luck to you! You've got this. 💛

I was the same. My labour was actually less painful with the first baby. My mom was the one who recognized I was actually IN labour... because I was expecting more pain. There's a really good chance that you had / have endometriosis. The body CAN actually heal itself if able to take the time to do so, but each month it starts to heal and then it's hit with a monthly hormonal swing that sets it back to square one. I have it and my doctor told me that I could get repeated surgeries to remove the scar tissue but the chance of complications basically cancelled out the benefits. He said it wouldn't get better unless I got pregnant. After the first pregnancy I went from level 10 pain to probably a seven. After the second I went down to about a 4. Being pregnant gives your body 9 months to heal and the immune response and hormone reset is basically what it needs to fix itself. NOT that I recommend getting pregnant to FIX it... 😊
Some of us feel the pain and get used to it. So a 9 or 10 is part of us. I'm glad some guys want to understand us.

I have had 3 children and had up to this point had “normal” periods. For the last 2-3 years my periods became more and more painful, I had tremendous pain from just below my ribs all down my stomach and back and what was really horrible was the pain in the top of my thighs. The pain would start about a week before my period and lasted until a week to ten days after my period, I had very little break from the pain. I was a single mom so I kept pressing on, doing the stuff we all have to do everyday. The last month, and especially the last two weeks, when we were at church and it would be time to stand and sing I just couldn’t do it anymore. I felt so bad that I couldn’t stand, felt like the whole room was staring at me. FINALLY I almost crawled into my doctor’s office and tried explaining why I couldn’t handle my cramps any longer. They did some tests and scans…endometriosis was inside and outside of my uterus, it made total sense for why I was in so much pain. Sadly there was no alternative but to do a hysterectomy. I really should have gone to my doctor sooner!

I had a level 10 as soon as I hit puberty and started menstruating at 13 yrs old. I would puke from the pain and often sit on the toilet hunched over most the night crying every month on the first to second day of each period. Had to call into school or leave in the middle of school and got treated like an over dramatic baby by other girls and school staff. Luckily I grew out of it when I got to 19 years old. I get ovarian cyst every month still and my cramps are about a 2-4. When I was pregnant with my first I went all natural because I wanted to feel how strong that pain was compared to my unbearable periods (everyone said if you think your cramps are bad just wait until you have a baby). Well guess what! It was exactly the same! Except I didn't puke, or break into a cold sweat ... My body knew the pain was from a reason this time and I knew how to breath through them and ride the waves. So all those girls can l f... Themselves for thinking all females have the same period levels and assumed I was just a sensitive baby. And schools need to have a system that takes in account girls going through that every month and needing at least 2 days out of the classroom learning to handle that. All the kids that got 100% attendance awards in Jr high and highschool were boys!
