I confused here. If you are talking about the hamstrings stretch (as an agonist muscle), why did you ask the client to perform hip flexion after isometric contraction? Isn't that hip flexion is for Quads (which is antagonist muscle)?

In PNF stretching the Agonist is the muscle opposite the range-limiting mm. So in this, the agonist would be the quads because the tight limited muscles are the hamstrings (antagonists) which we are trying to stretch in this example.

Read into the concepts of autogenic inhibition and reciprocal inhibition and I think the reason why the client performed hip flexion will be clearer!

Flexing the opposing muscles (which in this case the quads) causes a reflexive relaxation of the muscle being stretched due to reciprocal inhibition.

If you perform that with the opposite hip extended, you stretch hamstrings in a better fashion. Is that correct?

The opposite muscle of the one you are stretching is contracting after the isometric contraction of the antagonist

Isn’t this an inappropriate position to perform any stretches
