Bro you have some of the best and informative videos I play live instruments, so a lot of your techniques help me sauce up my live loops and add texture to them. You've made me start using my arturia fx more. Just a side note I been using addictive drums for most of my drums for years now super secret sauce for any type of beat.

I'm all for samplism. At some point though it's just making much more work than it's worth. Instead, right click your drum midi clip, extract groove. double click another sample or midi clip on your timeline. In the clip view controls click groove, and select the new groove. Adjust groove controls to taste, click the (->) commit groove button to automatically warp your sample to the drum's groove. This is non-destructive allowing you to change the quantisation later if needed.

@AaronZuniga617

@@mpchead621so this is what people get confused about “bounce”and “pocket” bounce is adding syncopated notes on the (e) (&) (ah) these are 16th notes where as just the 1 & 2 & ect is just 8th notes these spots called up beats in between the down beats are what creates bounce pocket is creating a rhythmic pattern like snare late (kicks going 1 e 2 e 3 ) hihats pushed late ect, I like to make my rhythms in one bar parts at first and then once you have that rhythm going you have a groove being in pocket is sticking with that groove you can add variations but the core foundation of that pattern doesn’t change and then that’s what all your other instruments play off of like if you did the drums first the bass would play with and around the kick groove in my opinion you create a rhythm with bounce and that becomes the pocket hope this helps lol

Superior Drummer is nowhere near addictive, the break packs done with adi are better
@opinionateddouche69
3 ай бұрын
@@Barney-ii1no nah superior is SO much better for actual drum sounds, once you know what you're doing... it's way more complex than AD, but you can legit make drums with it that sound like actual breaks off a record. addictive sounds more artificial and like samples. which can be cool depending on the beat, I just mean, as long as the point of these is to sound like a real kit being played, superior is just miles beyond addictive drums.

Great video! However I disagree that giving everything in your beat exactly the same feel is the only way to make something feel good. It's a good place to start, and will absolutely make something groove better than something with a completely straight feel, but many great live bands will very often have multiple different pockets going on at once. if you're intentional with your use of it rythmic friction can be a powerful expressive tool. Try dragging or rushing different elements more than others and note how your perception of their place within a groove changes, whether they sit back or jump out at you and how that influences the overall emotion of your beat.
