Eating frozen fruit while still frozen has additional benefits. During the time spent thawing, frozen fruit loses much of its polyphenols. The author of Eating on the Wild Side - who uncovered the research showing this - recommends thawing as fast as possible such as in microwave, or I dunk in hot or boiling water. But eating while still at last partly frozen works too.

Thank you for all the valuable information add Greger! When you mention eggs not being recommended, you discuss their impact on cholesterol levels. I’m just wondering what your thoughts are on eating egg whites as a source of protein without all that cholesterol?

does yellow mustard work instead of mustard seeds ?
@lincolnanderson4228

Mustard sauce like you buy in the store is often heated during preparation to ensure shelf life, so the enzyme needed is deactivated. Homemade mustard sauce would work if the recipe does not require heating ( some online recipes just mix the ingredients, some require heating on a stove). Fresh mustard greens would work.

I need that portfolio diet but I followed your recommendations and changed my diet significantly for a year, and though my cholesterol is much better but still isn’t great. 😢how long can it take?
@annoyedaussie3942

Unfortunately it sounds like you are stuck with it and it's probably your genetics. I would expect a year is definitely long enough assuming you don't have a high body fat percentage which seems to affect cholesterol too and if you are elderly it's normal for cholesterol to increase.

Took Niacin 500mg, but flush was kinda strong. So I took 100mg daily, expecting the flush 5 times smaller. Did not make any difference. Still strong flush. Strangely, some days no flush at all. Almost forgot I took Niacin. I tryed to figure out what affects the flush, no luck. Empty stomach or after food doesnt seem to make a difference for me....

I like eggs and dairy in moderation. My cholesterol levels are in check for a 70 yr old. The difference is I have no chronic diseases like 90% of those over 65 due to resistance training and cardio and keeping my weight in check.

@@Jeffs60nope. Dr. Greger clearly states here that eating eggs makes you die earlier. As for centenarians: if you do make it to a hundred yourself, you clearly have different genes from the rest of us and maybe eggs are fine for you. For the rest of us: safer without them.

Jim, Ed Rodriguez 72 here. While it is evident that many do go that route, the evidence is out that the long-term effects are plaque build up in the arteries, destruction of the endothelial lining, and excess fat build-up throughout the circulatory system, as well as in and around all the organs. These are long-term effects that sooner rather than later lead to medical conditions that are grouped under what doctors call Syndrome X. If you'd like to learn more on this topic, see Dr. Peter Rogers channel. Also, if going to the gym seems to be impractical, see the Pacific Rim Athletics channel. At one time, I used the Charles Atlas method of resistance training. Hope the information helps out.
