Hello world and Drex - thanks for the awesome review! A few things to note: 1. The firmware update thingy has been SOLVED! We'll be releasing a new firmware updater that will not require you to open the capsule and reset. Not sure if you can annotate the video, but that comment will soon be dated ;) 2. Yes we are working on an app and a full featured remote - we wanted to enable access to a lot of features without requiring a remote, and while it can get complicated, all you need to know is Pages and Adjust to do almost everything, including grouping. Also this is just the beginning - once you learn the UI for capsule 2.0, you'll know the UI for the new upcoming vision system (clubs, multi-pixel poi, staff etc.), which also connects to capsule 2.0.

We're working on the app when we can, but focusing on the vision line now (clubs, then poi, staffs etc.) - we'll be releasing a round of beta vision clubs in August and you'll be able to see its functionality there. We're a super small company and all this development costs a lot, gotta make it all work out somehow, so the more peops get into 2.0, the faster the app will come ;)

Hi Xander - podpoi v2 come standard with knobs, but you can add flowleash plus for leashes w/ amazing swivels (flowtoys.com/flowleashplus). These are truly stainless steel swivels - super buttery and you can install the knobs on the handles, so you get the best of both world - knobs and swivels :) Feel free to email us at support@flowtoys.com if you have any questions!

So I actually got a pair of spinballs, which led me to your tutorial app, and depending on my interest level in a few months, I'm probably getting podpoi. I've had them for about three days and feel like I've made a month of progress, I did however spin nunchucks before, so I had a few maneuvers already figured out, like behind the back and head, basically tuck turns. I really appreciate your free tutorials and your patreon will be my first, eventually.

Thanks for this. i agree, it's a lot to ask for a single button. I've had these now for a few days and I'm just not invested enough to keep working on the grouping. I can't tell if I'm "clicking" through a page or "long pressing" to save or whatever. I treat these like 1.0s and I'm just going to make pretty lights until the remote/app comes out.

was at a huge open area for the 4th of july and it started to storm real bad. the lights stayed on the whole time in a nice white color and even though it got drench letting it dry off the lights work just fine. was super helpful to have a bright light that stayed on when the going got tough. almost literally a life saver. still hoping for some update or a modified programming so one can start synching color changes to music.

A question about the batteries: Is it possible to replace them? Dont want to run out of Battery-life on a festival, where electricity for recharging is often hard to come by.

Great review Drex! Kind of disappointing that there’s still no app to control/customize the display though. Love the added brightness, but in my opinion this feels like Capsule 1.5

Curious, in regards to contact rolls with the pods (I wasn't practicing those yet with my old set, before they broke), how efficient see they compared to your average set of contact heads?

Sounds tempting to get. I got the 1.0 version last year and started off with these, no experience what so ever, and they haven't failed me yet. Like you said, good for the experienced and inexperienced users. The only 2 issue I had was not know how to set the blink speed back to default when I never set the poi to blink quicker. It would randomly go back to normal after leaving it off for a while, but that was really my only solution to do for that problem. The other issue is more of a durability problem so I don't know if it's just my aggressiveness in using them... anyways, what happened is the ends of the silicon pedals wore down over time and would easily release the seal holding it together. It mainly just happens when I accidently clash them together in either the butterfly or when I'm trying to do orbitals but still work well overall. Would definitely buy the 2.0 version later. Just hope they outlast my reckless when I do plan try them out for myself. As always, another great video from the #1 poi teacher in my book on youtube.

On battery life: you talk about the running time, but not about how well the battery lasts when not in use. I've been finding that I'm charging my poi much more frequently than I had to with my 1.0's. The battery life seems to decrease over a few days, even when they're turned off for the entire duration. It's possible that I'm using them more without realizing it, so it'd be nice to see formal data on this. It seems relevant because the wireless feature needs to be active even when turned off, in order to have the poi turn on and off with their linked capsules.
@DrexFactor

It's a good point. Because I use mine so often I recharge them every few days or so. I should do a head-to-head matchup between these and my older pods.

I think i read somewhere that the wireless communication takes around 1 full full a month, so its pretty negligible. maybe it's the brightness? the default mode is a lot brighter than the 1.0's
@b__p
6 жыл бұрын
yeah you have to lower the brightness from default for it to be a fair race.
@flowtoys

There are 2 issues going on ... the battery charge level indicator is more conservative in the 2.0s now. When it's red, it's not actually about to die (unless it's been red for awhile, or you're in bolder/power hungry modes). We'll be changing this. The new battery actually holds its charge for a lot longer, but the radio does use some power, but it's negligible. And yes default brightness is much brighter than 1.0s, so will deplete faster when on. Some of our peops change the default brightness to level 2 to help get more hours in a night if they don't need them to be hella bright.

I have incredibly bad luck with LED poi. I literally have had 3 pair of pod poi, 2 from e lights and a couple others I can't even remember. I get about 4 or 5 uses and they stop charging. No one else hardly had this issue. I use the cord they provide, I charge them completely, I don't abuse them, they didn't get wet, hot or cold... I just don't get it.
