Little information for you. The number one RB was hurt in the off season but the Co-starter Jaden Blue is very healthy. He sat in the second half because of the large lead. Tre Wisner ran all over Colorado st also and sat the second half. Gibson was the number one running back in the nation last year in high school and got a ton of reps in the second half.

IMO: no one has any clue. Michigan looked good enough to me - and moving Mullins to RB1 is the right move. OL made typical game 1 mistakes for a new OL; the OL improvement in the 2nd half was VERY positive. The D and special teams looked great. Texas is an elite program….but watching Texas’ losses to Oklahoma and Washington to me reflect that Michigan is the type of team who can beat Texas. Your analysis on the Maryland game is spot on! It's a new team with new coaches. I'm excited for them as they have big challenges ahead of them. Let's support the team through this transition. Unlike so many who have given Texas the W already, I'd like to think Michigan has a chance to beat Texas if a)play calling is better and b)our defense holds and offense feeds off of it. Texas showed the most vanilla offense and defense possible for a week 1. If they 'threw it around' it was to get a brand new crop of WRs in tune and into game action. In the first half Ewers hit 10 different receivers . =) IF Texas didn't run a lot, it was to make sure they got out go the game without any significant injury to their RBs, BUT Texas ran the ball 41 times vs 33 pass attempts... When a team averages 10.8 yards per pass attempt it's pretty easy for that number to get big quick. Texas had 3 rushing TDs and 4 receiving TDs, so it looks pretty balanced.

Texas had 190 yards rushing Saturday. Gibson is a true freshman who didn't get in until the second half. Blue is the primary starter. Fastest timed RB in college football last season. Also, Texas played 71 players on Saturday. Starters were out midway through the 3rd, but they'd already been rotating a lot before that. 51 Players played in the first half. Fresno picked to finish 3rd in MWC. CSU picked to finish 5th. No doubt, Fresno is better. But maybe only by a win or two. Michigan defense is certainly scary, but even that Pick 6 was a mistake by the Fresno WRs more than it was Johnson being great. We'll see. Should be fun.

I watched both games multiple times… Texas punted on the first drive.. and Colorado State punted in about 2 minutes… if Michigan forces a punt first series they will hold onto the ball for 5-7+ minutes and get a field goal at least.. Texas didn’t take off in that game until CSU.. punted 5 drives in a row and longest drive being 3 min… CSU also on first down was pushing your DLine backwards.. getting 5-7 yards every first down and then trying to pass the next 2 downs Michigan won’t do that.. if they get 5-7 on first down they will run it again… plus the weather is going to be wet and cold… it’s going to be a knock out drag out and lastly I watched your LG get beat up 50% of the game… that guy could barely contain 91 for CSU Mason Graham or Kenneth Grant will destroy him watch

As much as we sit here and critique this and that , and to be fair there are things to critique. But I firmly believe they treated this game as a warmup. Not trying to excuse the glaring weaknesses we had , but it’s not fair to judge them on this one game against a good but still inferior opponent . Let’s see how they do with a much more emotional and big game . And whatever the reason was for them rotating so many guys (I honestly think they knew this could very well be their only chance to get some depth reps for a while so they were determined to do it rain or shine ) but they certainly won’t be able to go too far into the depth in thsi game. Anywya we will see . But there were always gonna be growing pains. As beloved as Moore is …he’s still a first year HC with a bunch of new players and guys . As long as everyone is learning from mistakes , making changes, and improving steadily, I will trust in them. Even if they don’t win every single game .

Do not compare this team with last year. Michigan had the benefit of a lot of seniors, a three year starter at QB and a coach who had been there for years - in 2023. This year all those key elements are missing with this team. Michigan is a work in progress at this point of the season. Texas has many advantages over Michigan that will matter in this game in 2024. Of course Michigan will take a few steps back this year. Is the defense for Michigan very good…of course, but with this offense it won’t be enough. Depending on what the Michigan offense does, which, let’s be honest, the QB play is not top notch, I could see Texas winning by at least 10.

Allow me to make a correction. Texas ran for 190 yards vs CSU. Way more than I thought. Looks like it was spread out among various backs too. My point that they aired the ball out quite a bit more than I would've expected them to still stands. They may have exposed more of their playbook than they should've. Two things are true here though, Texas has a competent running attack but CSU is not a good measuring stick for how that run game will do vs a good defense.

Of course they are. I have seen a lot of rationalizing from fans and analysts alike. The analysis I’ve seen has been subjective with a hint of objective truth. Fresno State is a decent team, they’re not great. And when you’ve established a pattern of success at winning like Michigan, you’re supposed to blowout teams like Fresno State. Regardless if you’re trying to keep the play calling vanilla, your mid-level play should be a test for a decent team. My thought is that Michigan overestimated their capabilities and some flaws were exposed. They’re not a team that can come from behind and win, nor can they keep it close because they’ll struggle to take a lead. They need to come out and take the lead early and keep it.
