What a mess. I can't believe how selfish Elisa was. She leaves her daughter behind, cheats on the one good man she found, steals from the next man she's cheating with, somehow he still wants to marry her, then with all that money it's still not enough, she has to go and find someone else to help her siphon more of his money and then kill him. If someone is willing to leave their kid behind, cheat on their spouse and steal money from their work/friend/client/boss.. they are pretty much a lost cause. An important piece of information was left out of this re-telling of "Elisa's" (Laren) story. Laren was still in high school when she was convicted of theft and she was sentenced to probation. A court psychiatrist diagnosed her with a mental disorder and recommended that Laren get professional counseling, but did not mandate it. It appears that Laren's parents did not follow the recommendation. I, of course, do not know if counseling would have prevented Laren from doing all the bad things that she did, but one never knows.

Giiirl 👌🏻 I’ve been saying this for years. When I was in uni (graduated 2013, I feel very old saying that haha) my friends were all book-smart. I love them to death, but they agree with me: I was by far the “smartest” of the group, and I understood everything I was being taught... yet they’d usually beat me by a few marks 😩😂 They just have better memories and can answer test questions well, in the way the examiner is looking for 😂🤦🏼♀️ it’s a separate skill. Prep schools are precisely that - teaching you how to take a test. I got great grades, but I have a bad memory. Because of that, I COULDN’T get away with not fully understanding something inside out. I couldn’t study the way they could - they just memorised stuff. I had to *actually* learn it, so I understood it all, and so I don’t need a good memory 😂🤷♀️ I’d have to work twice as hard to get the same grades. They’d always *just* beat me on marks, and it was so unbelievably annoying because I KNEW they weren’t really understanding the principles being taught - they were just good at answering the questions/memorising the answers 😂🤦🏼♀️ There’s so much more to intelligence than scrolls or pieces of paper.

Sarah was one of my inmates in Sacramento County. (I'm a former deputy.) Ironically, we both attended Sac State at the same time before the murder. She was extremely quite, scared, seemed incredibly mortified, & I think she was a follower who was no match for Elise's dominant personality. I was too new in my career to know Larry, but the older deputies had nothing but good things to say about him in the Court Division. (Which praise for a defense attorney in the law enforcement world is rare.) The whole story is sheer waste of human potential, because Elise was a sociopath.

I'm glad to find this comment, as it somewhat confirms my thoughts about this. Ima post my initial comment here: Am I the only one who feels a bit sad for Sarah? She was 23 (not even a proper adult yet, depending on how mature), Laren was very manipulative, charming, and 10 years older and reeled her hin, and also was not only her boss but then friend whom she was emotionally & financially dependent on. Age gap, manipulation, power-dynamic. I'd just think (or hope) that she didn't want to help kill him but was coerced/manipulated into doing so.

According to Toni's mom, a couple that was traveling in a vehicle saw a CHP patrol car passing by and tried to flag them down for help as her car was rear-ended by another driver, but the patrol car sped up and drove away and the couple saw a girl matching Toni's description in the back of the patrol car.

It’s insane that she shoplifted so many times and each time she would flee and move to a new country but then do the exact same thing. It’s pretty stupid in my opinion. I think the friendship that Lauren had with Sarah was toxic because they were always around each other. It seemed they couldn’t be apart even though they were just friends. They seemed like a couple to me because of how obsessed they were. I think Lauren wasn’t happy when Larry told her to fire Sarah and it’s what caused her to snap. She didn’t want to lose her best friend at work so she decided to kill him. I think it was Lauren’s idea to take Larry’s life and since she was Lauren’s friend and they did everything together, Sarah thought that she should go along with it which is just crazy to me. She also deserved more time than she got. She helped kill a man and only got ten years. Unbelievable.

It is common for some children of abusers to remember the abuse and other children of the same abuser to not remember it. In some cases it is the golden child who never experienced the abuse that the other family members experienced who never knew the abuse happened. In other cases it is kind of like an amnesia of sorts as a survival response when a child can’t mentally reconcile the parent’s abusive side with their good side that the child loves

I also remember when they were working next to me in Sacramento, one day they both showed up with a brand new Jaguar and they showed it off to me and my then boss. And all the while, Larry was dead in a fridge. The worst is when his son came into my office asking if I had seen his father as he had been missing. So sad.

Hey Kendall!! Your videos are so interesting and actually part of why I’m studying forensics! I was wondering if you could do some cases that involve places which are abandoned now. Me and my friends growing up use to love checking out those old creepy places and I think it would be super cool if when people look up an abandoned place online they can also find your video and learn the crime that happened before it was abandoned. Kind of like your camp Scott video. Idk I just think some videos that tell the stories behind abandoned locations would be cool❤️ keep up the amazing work and thank you for inspiring me to study further into forensics!

Ok as a horse person and someone who has seen the shady side of AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association)I had to call out something 😂 these trainers and people who show, usually don’t care at all how comfortable their horse is. Most times if someone has drugs in their hands it’s usually so that the horses temperament is better and therefore easier to show. Not saying he did that but good chance that’s why he had it. Love your channel ❤️
