The hand where she had AJ suited, she played that really well. I honestly don't know how she figured out how to make those calls on the turn and river. There's so much that would have beat her. I think she must have had the read on him.

@Logan west As anyone who has played in a tournament knows, you're sitting with someone for lengths of time that it is possible to pick up on tells. What she sees, I honestly have no idea. What I do know, is watching versus being at a table is completely different. If someone is shaking, you can see it. I'm not saying he is shaking, but a huge pot in cash games can induce shaking in the hands from a win and successful bluff. I think she can see something we cannot. Whether it's when she's heads up and dominating that guy, it's his breathing patterns or a vein pulse in his forehead, twitchy fingers, she's staring at HIM, though and dissecting him somehow. It takes some balls to really stare down your opponent like that and it can be a tell if they really do not make ANY eye contact, whatsoever. At least I've found that to be true SO MANY TIMES. It's worked so much more than it hasn't. You have to have a feel for the player, in order for it to work. See how they are at the table and when talking to others and throwing it all in the bank. I know he's doing a lot to conceal, but there's something and she IS definitely doing something right.

That's not what "blocker" means. The concepts of card removal in NLHE/LHE and "blockers" in mixed games are two different things. Your game doesn't have "blockers," as a general rule. That's just people misusing the term because they think poker = NLHE. (The exception would be when the board has come with a 3 flush and one player holds the dry ace of that suit--but even that is a relatively new school usage of "blocker" which derives from the way that word is used by mix players who play PLO, and NLHE players just kind of adopted it. But holding a Q in your hand in HE doesn't mean you have the "blocker" to quad queens.) Hope that's helpful? GL!
@WILLIAMCHANEL
4 жыл бұрын
Here is an example of a blocker: You are playing stud-8. You have 2 two's in the hole, and another 2 on the board for trips. On 7th street, you've made a 6 low in addition to your trip deuces, which actually means you have a 6-high straigh for high. The player to your right's board reads A-3-4-5. Here, your trip deuces are blockers to the scoop in a 3-way or multi-way pot, so you can put in a lot of action (raises). It's a concept that is similar to card removal in flop games but really has more to do with blocking the potential of getting scooped or quartered in split-pot games. Then "blocker" was used to describe the dry ace in Omaha-8 situations where a 3-bet would invoke a fold from a K-high flush against the dry A. THEN they started using the word "blocker" in PLO to describe situations where they were trying to justify calls on boards with obvious straights but where the donk would say, "I had blockers to the straight because to make a straight he needed a 9 and I had three of them..." But those aren't blockers. That's just card removal.

Regardless of the bet sizing, she definitely knows what she's doing at the table. I genuinely do believe she picked up on physical tells as well. You do not tank and stare down your opponents like that for posturing purposes. Whether it's breathing, the temple, his eyes behind the glasses (visible from her angle) hand movements, shaky fingers - who knows, but if you've ever played a cash game live, you know all of this is visible at the table. She was looking for SOMETHING and wasn't wrong, once. She does that a lot, too. This isn't the only time she's gone this deep in a tournament. She played her first in '16 and was heads up and split the money at the final table. A year later, this tournament (she again, offered to split 1st but Jacob declined) A year later she also took the PCA Main Event, 1st place. And was at the final table of PPUK Millions event in '20. Not sure what else, but she's a deep tournament player and that's F'N impressive!!

When I was young, back in the 1970's, women did not play poker; they played bridge or canasta. Once, in Cesars' Palace, during the mafia years, I sat down to play 7-stud. There were two women at the table. I was quietly congratulating myself on my upcoming 'slaughter of the innocents'. Those two women proceeded to take me to the cleaners. It was only later that I found out that women did play poker in CA, with the legal poker halls, and I had played against two of the best...

I started playing poker in casinos in Atlantic City, Mississippi, and New Orleans in the late 1990's. In the bigger games, when an unknown woman sat down to play, the men would salivate, like they were about to make a big score. But frequently these women were extremely experienced but unknown by the players in a particular game or market, so they could just kill it. As an obviously gay man, I would wear these T-Shirts that you could buy in casino gift shops or on the Boardwalk or the Strip that would say "Poker Queen" (and they'd usually have a pair of queens as the graphic). Similarly to how men would underestimate female players, I was able to convert bias and prejudice into my personal ATM for years and years.
