@Running-Directions

You first need to put on the heart rate monitor. The heart rate monitor does not send or receive data until you're wearing it. * Make sure the Garmin is within 3 m (10 ft.) of the H10 & remains there whilst pairing * From the watch face, hold UP. * Select > Sensors & Accessories > Add New. * Select an option: • Select Search All. • Select your sensor type. After the H10 is paired with your Garmin, the status changes from Searching to Connected. H10 data appears in the data screen loop or a custom data field.

great video thanks a lot. The problem that I am having is that after taking off the H10 after the activity, does not disconnect automatically and the batter keeps "draining". Do I need to disconnect the H10 proactively in the garmin watch or is there a way to make sure that the chest strap disconnects after the activity is finished and the chest strap is not worn anymore?
@Running-Directions

Hi Lukas, I usually unclip my H10 sensor from the strap after I've finished using it. That makes sure it disconnects from the Garmin and it helps prolong the H10 battery too.

@Running-Directions

Hi Duncan. The chest strap will override the watch sensor for activity data - such as runs or bike rides etc. But for other HR monitoring such as during sleep the Garmin will use the data from the in-built optical sensor, whether you're wearing a paired chest strap or not.

@@Sha0linstyle Provided that you've paired the strap properly then it will be used when you're performing an activity such as a run or a bike ride etc. It's Garmins default that a paired strap will be used instead of the in-built sensor in these scenarios. One question I had was if the H10 memory feature works with the Garmin watch. Meaning if I were to get out of the range of the watch during an activity (i.e. boxing) after the activity has started, will it record my heart rate for the time it was out of range?
@Running-Directions

I've not personally used the H10 in the way you describe, as my Garmin is always on my wrist. But I believe the H10 can record one workout in memory (which gets overwritten when the next workout is recorded) the recorded workout data can be transferred to the watch/app you're using.

Hi Ana, I'm not familiar with the approach s40. But having looked at the specs on Garmin website - it doesn't appear to have ANT+ capabilities. So, on that basis I'd say that it won't be able to sync with the Polar H10. Though the s40 does have bluetooth capabilities as does the H10, so in theory they could connect via bluetooth. However, I see no mention of heart rate or heart rate monitoring in the Garmin specs for the s40 ( www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/635923#specs ) that leads me to think that they won't play nicelly together either. Sorry.

Can you do this for swimming? Is it possible to use the H10 with a VA4 for a swimming workout?
@Running-Directions

I'm a runner and a very bad swimmer, so I've never worn the H10 for a swim and I don't intend to. But, I believe that combination would work. The H10 is waterproof and the specs say that it can be used for swimming and the VA4 can be paired with ANT+ sensors like the H10. Not sure how well the 2 would talk to each other in the water during a swim though. But there's always the option to 'record' the session with the H10. By starting the session on the Polar App - before heading for the pool. Hope that helps.

Hi Ivo, If I understand you correctly you're asking if I use the H10 and monitor it live in the Garmin Connect App? I've never used the H10 in that way and don't know if it's possible. I'm thinking about getting the H10 for my martial arts training, since I can't wear a watch during training. The distance to my watch in my bag may be about 5 meters (even more if we have outdoor training). What are you experiences w/ ANT+ over that kind of range? Is there any other HRM (besides the Garmin HRM Pro) that has a memory function for workouts that can be accessed by a Garmin watch? I would be happy if someone had some input for me. Unfortunately, I think my only option is the Garmin HRM Pro, but I don't want to buy a HRM where I can't replace the strap.
@Running-Directions
3 жыл бұрын
Hi - that's an interesting conundrum. Must admit that I've never used a HRM strap/Garmin combo in this way. Until about 5 minutes ago. I can tell you that the H10/Garmin combo does work like this. I placed the Garmin on a table on my patio and walked to the end of my garden - did some light jogging on the spot & walked back. A connection was maintained the whole time. Then I took the Garmin indoors and left it on the kitchen table and repeated the walk to the end of my garden. This time the Garmin did loose the signal - but I was about 12m away at that point and the other side of a brick wall/window. The Polar H10 does have a memory function/capability. But again I've never used this function, as I'm a runner and always wear my Garmin/HRM together. I believe you'd need to use the Polar Beat app to make use of the H10 memory functionality. But it would continue to record/log your HR data if you wee to exceed the range for the HRM strap to communicate with your phone. Hope this helps.

Like the vid :-) Would you recommend the H10 over the watch HRM?
@Running-Directions
3 жыл бұрын
Hi GutSurfer, my preference is always to use a chest strap HR sensor. This is for a couple of reasons. Firstly they're more accurate. Secondly, I find them more comfortable. Mainly because I have quite skinny wrists and to get a watch unit to read my HR - I need to wear it very tight and I just don't like that. I find it very irritating and distracting. If I don't wear it tight, then I get a lot of drop-outs from the HR reading. As light gets in between the watch and my wrist, so it can't read my HR. But if you have a Garmin with an integral HRM, it's not absolutely necessary to get a separate chest strap sensor.
