Welcome,
This is PT 4 of my Polar Lights 1/350 Scale TOS Enterprise Production Version build.
In this segment the installation of the R2 lighting kit begins starting with the secondary hull.
I have decided to modify the lighting kit and not to use the included clip connectors meant to connect to the LED strip lighting. I'm a believer in soldering connections for a solid long lasting circuit. So Instead I'll be using magnet wire to connect all of the lighting strips.
Also another change. The R2 kit is wired in series so everything is like a chain. If a link were to fail in the chain, every thing beyond that point will no longer receive power and then will no longer work. Instead, I'll wire everything in parallel which will insure that all of the components have power individually and if one fails, the others will continue working.
The video starts with a demonstration of soldering basic's with soldering magnet wire using the proper method. After that there is some info about the LED strip lighting and how to wire it and install it in the model.
Later on in the video, I go through the steps of securing the wiring and testing the lighting system.
The next video in this series will feature the installation of the shuttle bay and finishing the rest of the wiring and lighting of the secondary hull. Then I'll be painting the outer surface with the hull color, installing the window inserts and will finish with sealing it all up.
See you there and Happy Modeling :)
