No belt change no belt slip I’ve done regular fluid changes and just rode it. Now with that being said you can get a bad ATV no matter who makes it because people build atvs and people aren’t perfect that’s just the way it is lol

full disclosure i sell these machines and some may accuse me of a bias but they would be wrong! I am rather opinionated and i tell you this machine has proven its worth! Getting that out of the way you wont find a better 4wd system than Polaris for ease of use and reliable capable terrain management. You won't find a better standard suspension with ride comparison. now lets talk performance and a beautiful feeling Power Steering win Polaris, now lets talk dealer support everywhere and parts, win Polaris, now lets talk social support and with so many Polaris owners on the trails help is common place. With all that great stuff said I prefer Honda or all Japanese for raising the bar on long term overall reliability along with lower cost of ownership not to mention resale value. I am a practical guy and its the bare bones that gets me. Buy with confidence and with all the advantages you cant miss with any mainstream choice.

Being an owner of a Ranger 800 for 8 years, as well as an ace 300 for 4 years and a razor 900 for 2 years, plus a former sportsman 250 owner for several years, I can readily agree, so long as you use them as intended or even a little rougher than intended, they remain reliable and serviceable. 2500 miles on my '18 and has been reliable so far...more so than my 1000XP. It goes everywhere.... sand dunes, winter snow plowing, and 100 mile trail rides and not one issue. If you're burning belts, you're not driving correctly. Period. It is you, not the machine. As a group, we have thousands of miles on Polaris ATVs and SxSs. Everything from rock crawling, mud holes, and high speed gravel and woods trails. Spring, summer, fall, winter. We run them HARD. 70+mph through the woods. We have never had a single belt failure. I have ~1400 miles on my factory belt right now. Never had a major mechanical failure. Occasional small issues, nothing that left anyone stranded. The Hondas can't even come close to keeping up. The top speed of a rancher is what, like 55mph? The Polaris XP series easily does 70mph. My RZR is governed at 80mph. Not even in the same category.
@jonny5662

I absolutely agree on the belts and agree the Honda’s are slow. That being said, I have 2 ranchers and a sportsman 500. The sportsman will be a pile of parts while the Honda’s are still running 10-20 years down the road. I have no interest in going 70 in the woods. I think the main point is Polaris people say Honda’s suck because they’re slow and Honda people say Polaris suck because of the belts and quality, but both are good ways to have fun and people need to concentrate on what they like over crapping on other peoples preferences.

Thanks luke & dirt trax for all your hard work and dedication. Luke i really appreciate you addressing the negative comments about unreliable polaris atv's made by people on the internet. Its irritating when somebody's atv breaks down and then try discouraging potential buyers to avoid a particular make and model. I'm an hvac technician by trade with a lot of mechanical experience. I cannot emphasize and stress enough about the importance of doing proper routine maintenance, dealer servicing, recall notices, inspections, fluid checks and changes etc. Also proper engine warm up and break in need to be followed. Modifying an engineered factory built machine or mis wiring something is guaranteed to give you mechanical trouble, fire hazzard and even potential risk of injury or death. Like you said atvs demand respect and use them for what they are intended for. We have had 9 polaris snowmobiles since 1990 and all have proven to be reliable if they are taken care of. Polaris would never put prostar motors in their atv's if they were junk and their approach to snowmobiling and off road is VERY serious and look forward to enjoy many more years of their recreational vehicles. I have chosen to get a sportsman 570 trail edition for my first atv. I enjoyed and learned from your reviews. Thanks again. See you on the snow. Be safe.

The other 2 beat the brakes off theirs, and only problem was overheating. Which was completely their fault for not washing them after a weekend of crazy mud riding in northern Michigan, mud was packed in the radiators and everywhere it shouldn’t be. After a bath back to flawless. Great platform. And you guys rock, as always great content. Would love a little more sport quad stuff, but hard when Yamaha is the only one in the game.

I have a ‘19 570 Touring. Was a little hesitant at first with the extra body length and if it really gave that much more room when really riding it around. But surprisingly, two larger adults fit well and it’s very comfortable and handles pretty well. Only issue I feel could use some improvement right now is making the machine a little more user friendly to service. I’d also like to see Polaris offer a turn signal kit that can be added since they seem to do accessories really well and they look sharp. Overall, it’s a great machine and plenty of power. 👍🏻

I dont see an issue with the belt , i have pulled several times fully loaded cube vans into my shop on snow and ice , I have dragged a moose through swamp and brush and also loaded a 125lbs deer on the front rack . My only problem is electronics why should a fuel guage and a faulty power module .Why cant they put a fuse box instead. I only have 1200 on the odometer 700 of that was done last winter trail riding . a new 570 sounds interesting and yes if you sell more you will have more with problems its like that in the auto industry.

I've owned a few different polaris' over the years and I agree with you on the belt issue. I use low range when I need it and have only changed 1 belt in thousands of miles but I do disagree with dependability. It's the dumb stuff that I'll never understand with polaris engineers. Wiring issues, heat issues, fuel air ratios, and a plastic sprague carrier in a hillard differential. Great line-up, probably the best on the market, but fix the little things so a guy doesn't feel bad spending $10000 on a toy. Great video even though we might disagree. Keep on riding and stay safe.

I think that a proper break-in is the most important aspect of owning an ATV that would insure future reliability. After I got my 2017 renegade xmr 570 I only used the econo key to ensure no speeds over 70 Kph for the first 200 Km then used the performance key so I could gradually increase the top speed runs and have never had a problem with over 3000 Km on it now. No burnt belts, starts and runs beautifully

My wife's Step dad had one in the garage forever. It's a 1996 Polaris Trailblazer 250 and runs like a scalded dog. It's really a lot of fun for a powerful smaller bike. Anyway, it's a 1996! I have 2 of these bikes. One is a 2009 the other is a 2018. Both are awesome bikes. The 2009 has been a great bike. It has the original drive belt, original brake pads. I just changed the tires, I only got 11 years of usage out of the original tires :-). The only other thing I've had to do on the bike is replace a CV axle boot (pc of wire got wrapped around the axle and cut the boot) and I also just replaced the suspension bushings. That is it in 11 years of ownership. No issues whatsoever with the 2018. And from a performance perspective, WOW. I am impressed every time I ride them. You Honda Rancher or Foreman owners will get EMBARASSED in a head to head with a Sportsman. Either of my bikes will run off and leave you on top end. Same thing when it comes to traversing over rocky terrain or downed trees. The straight rear axle on the Honda holds it back severely. Towing, again the Sportsman comes out on top. And RIDE..... OMG..... no comparison. These are awesome bikes. There is a reason the US Military chooses Polaris!

Anytime you can own an ATV for 24 yrs and still crank it up and ride it is a testament to the Manufacturer. The real reason folks are upset is because of their own abuse. Down right abuse, Non-Service, and neglection of repairs will result in bad taste. They are made to ride and work, not swim and plow in mud. Go Polaris, keep up the good work.

I owned a few 500 Sportsman's built on the same body style as the 570 and I absolutely wish I never sold my 2008 EFI model. It was a tank. I put 5000 km on it and never blew a belt, and had no problems with the engine, or transmission and I drove it harder than most people would. I had a few small electrical gremlins which were fixed relatively quickly. I felt the struts on those 500's were more comfortable than the A Arms on the 850 I replaced it with. To me, the older one actually handled a tiny bit better. The only thing I didn't like was it was twitchy in the snow and ice due to the engine braking dragging the back wheels on slippery surfaces every time I let off the throttle.

Polaris makes excellent machines. I had 2,500 miles on my sportsman 850 with the stock belt. As you mentioned that requires the user to put the vehicle and low when it calls for it. I don't think anyone will really have a major issue at the Polaris ATV with the engine or transmission, however they do seem to experience ball joint, wheel bearing, tie rod, control arm bushing and knuckle bushing failure far earlier than the Japanese machines. I like to draw a comparison of GM vehicles to Toyota. Polaris would be GM and Yamaha or Honda would be Toyota. Both GM and Toyota make excellent vehicles however pretty much anyone can make an argument that a Toyota will generally Outlast a GM. I feel the same comparison can be made for Polaris ATVs versus a Yamaha or Honda ATV. it's not that Polaris or Can-Am or artic cat or necessarily is bad I just feel like they're not quite as refined in durability as the Japanese ATVs and mainly Yamaha and Honda.

I did the exact same thing with my 2016 570. I put it in the water at Windrock. It took an hour to dry out the air filter enough to start. That was at about 120 miles. The "yellow sub" now has 4700 mostly trouble free miles. I had a fan crap out in Canada 2 years ago, and lower control arm bushings replaced. It's been a fantastic machine, so I'm giving it to my 14 year old daughter and buying myself a new one. This time with power steering though!

That was my comment exactly. Polaris sells more atvs than the next 3 top competitors combined. Of course you are going to hear of more problems than the others! I have a '16 xp 1000, an '18 850sp and an '18 570 eps. Other than maintenance items, all 3 have been bullet proof! And we put on lots of miles. Couldn't be happier with Polaris.

I purchased a 2012 Sportsman 500 and never had one issue with it for the six years I had it. There were some quirks I didn't like so when I had to replace it, I purchased a Grizzly. I'd never talk anyone out of buying one if they were on a budget but if you have some cash to throw around, there are many options out there you should consider. I'm a believer that the Japanese ATVS are of a superior quality but polaris is far from junk.

I had a 2006 polaris sportsman 500 which I upgraded in 2014 to a polaris sportsman 570 and now I have a 2015 polaris Scrambler 1000xp that I am in love with. As long as you know how to change u joints wheel bearings and a arm bushings your set for a dead reliable unit. As far as belts go I replaced my rear wheel bearings twice before I ever blew a belt on my 570.

Great video! Gotta say it’s fun to hear you speaking in a very natural, personal, raw sort of way. My experiences on the Sportsman 570s mirror yours. Thinking we may do a long term test on the updated 2021 model.

I had 2018 570 sportsman over two years. It was eu tractor, basic model, limited speed to 60km/h. Newer had issue with a belt and still drove it allmost 500 hours. Only complain in the end was my desire to drive faster and feeling the power between my legs.. That is why i changed it to 1000 scrambler. It woud be nice still to own 570 so my kids could drive it.

My brother and uncle both have 570s . My brother never really had any issues but does not ride it much. My uncle bike is always broke. Both bikes rattle and clunk bad.I had 2002 700 sportsman it was a peice of crap and the service at my local Polaris shop was awful. Sometimes 2 months in the shop for warranty work. My dad also had a sportsman 500 it to was constantly broke. We ride suzuki king quads now with zero issues.

I bought my sportsman 570 3 years ago, reluctantly. I was originally looking for a can am, but the sportsman was available. It has been a great unit! Always starts, never has left me stranded, and takes all the abuse.

I am new to atv world and my first purchase was my Can-am outlander 450. I absolutely love it and not long after I purchased a Polaris outlaw 70 for my grandson. He loves it and I have zero complaints. I feel I own 2 very high quality machines and look forward to adding to the fleet. The Polaris 570 will definitely be on the wish list.

i have used polaris since -00, first it was a sportsman 500 then a 700 then 850 and now i own a xp 1000. And i love the way they handle. And i havent got many issues with any of them. Only the 700, they shouldnt have made that one. But otherwise they are quality products, with good comfort. Even my friends who have can-ams is prefering the Polaris comfort over the can-ams. Great machins and great choice for every person

Excellent colours , nice 14 wheels , ground clearance looks abundant , the winch controller is a great idea . I like foot boards and I think Polaris was the instagator of those . Active decent ? Why not just engine braking ? The single hand brake lever makes me crazy , just put two on . As for dependability that is up to the owner / operators , ATVs are not bulldozers , tractors or submarine's. I am not really happy that it is power wise being compared to grizzlies and brutes ( maybe Japan will receive dirt trax review and get a clue ) .

We have been looking off and on for some Atvs for the whole family. I keep coming back to the 570. With the new models coming out might be time to pull the trigger on a 2020. Do you have any suggestions on an Atv for an 8 year old? I have a hard time justifying multiple thousand on a first kids atv, thanks.

I want a Polaris (sleds, ATVs or SxS), I really do. They are super attractive and very sexy. It's akin to wanting to date the cheerleader in highschool, but in the end, I think that I'm going to get my heart broken so I date the debating club girl (Honda 420), who I know, is going to go to the dance with me and not leave me for the captain of the football team.

I have a 06 500 efi, and have used and abused it , I have done all recommended maintenance and have 19000 kms on it, yes 19000 and over 800 hours, I honestly can't see Hondas being any tougher then that. I have replaced wheel bearings. And rebuild the clutch a couple times, but these machines are tough as nails. Wouldn't get anything besides Polaris.

love my 2017 570, wouldn't want power steering and the rear storage is great for keeping spare gloves warm. Ride alot with Grizzly's and i would never pay the money for one. Shame the new Sportmans are so expensive now, woulda liked a second one.

I have nothing bad to say about Polaris ATVs, I have had my 2004 sportsman 500 HO serve me great only had to do regular maintenance up untill 2018 then it was just a solenoid replacement and a blown fuse. As far as belts I only had to replace 1 belt in 16 years id say that is pretty reliable

I agree 100% that you can't buy more ATV for less money. The base model can be had here in Texas for $4700. They are well made machines and very durable, if maintained properly.

Relative has an 08 500, 09 500 and an older Ranger with the 500 engine. All were actually used for work. 09 has had battery problems, but other than that no major problems. All still going strong.

One of my 1st bikes was a Polaris sportsman , loved the machine lots of power only issue back then was the transmission but all in all was a wicked bike ! I now own a Honda Rubicon Deluxe which I love , but my next purchase may be a Polaris or CanAm if I ever feel like switching it up in the future!
