Great vid. My 98 425 mag had the same boot issue. I learned that was an issue from one of your previous vids. Thanks!

I was one of those subs asking a few times. After all said and done you helped me allot with your uploads. Did all of this in the first round with new fuel pump/chyna carb ran great?!Then the same symptoms came back. This weekend I pulled the tank. Found some solidified fuel crud or maybe Stabil in the tank that was the perfect sizes to re-clog everything. About three times of what you showed here. Cleaned it all up, re-installed the original pump and all good for now. Really appreciate all videos. I watch a lot of them and you are definitely the most informative.

Thanks, That's actually a good tip I'll have to put in a video. That screen in the tank gets nasty sometimes.

Thanks so much for the video. I'm doing the exact thing. Silver part on top of the carburetor, I ordered a new and installed it. It has a nipple on it. Does it matter if it's covered with the plastic cap that it came with? Because the original carb did not have it on it.

Yes, It has to be plugged. Its an additional vacuum port. Not sure why they put it there. If its not plugged you will be sucking in air and the diaphragm will not function properly.

Excellent video & info! I've got a 2001 Sportsman 500HO that I've had apart several times, that is again needing attention. I've previously noted wear on the plastic #9 piston valve/#20 jet block. Given the expense of these parts individually; would you recommend buying a new carb or what is a reasonable option to replace them? Thanks!

I've bought carbs on ebay. depends which one you get. some are good, some are not. I don't have a company I can say 100 percent of them have been good.

@@TitaniummanGarage - But you would recommend taking a chance on buying a new carb, as opposed to replacing those individual parts? Thanks

@@ls2005019227 depends how far it's gone. I rebuild them. Sometimes successful sometimes not. Then I replace them.

sweet, great stuff, I have a 1999 Polaris 500 sportsman, installing new carb, seems to have to vacuum lines to no where, should they stay with caps? and explain twin fuel lies for reserve and regular. from fuel pump.

Caps come off. The carb needs to breathe. If its a non H.O. carb, the right side of the carb line goes to P on the pulse pump. That is vacuum that drives the pump. The left side is the fuel inlet. The top 2 ports usually have a Y shaped hose going to both ports and into the frame so dirt doesn't get in. Hope that helps.

@@richardsoule278 No problem. Trust me. I've been there. I had to look at several pictures on google to figure it out years ago.

Also check just under the top of the carb their is a diagram with a spring loaded rod the spring is held by a horseshoe clip in the winter especially the horseshoe clip comes off the will no longer regulate air flow and the quad will die on acceleration but will run as long as you don't hit the throttle if the horseshoe clip comes off when I take it apart I supper glue the spring to the plastic holder the ounce I get there horseshoe clip to where it runs right I super glue the horseshoe clip to the rod and you never have that problem again in the winter that rid gets iced up if you don't let it warm up that problem will happen

No. I heard amsoil is good. I can't get it here so I use synthetic 0-40 for oil. Synthetic ATF for the hub fluid. And an equivalent to the front and rear differentials. I usually google it. lol.

I would clean the carb, check fuel lines and pump. Make sure your vacuum lines, even on the tank are not pinched or soft.
