Hi Darcy, You are correct that this mechanical model is not consistent with the way an Electromagnetic wave would get polarized. In the EM model the wave would penetrate with its polarization vector perpendicular to the axis of the planes.

Great video, the illustrations really help, but, can you do a video showing what happens when you put a polariser inbetween the other two at 45 degree angle, because when you do half the light gets through the 3rd polariser that previously blocked all light, so the middle one must be changing the polariasion of the light.
