@star · light This is all highly dependent on the kind of film you are developing. You could even state you need light to start the process, since light is what causes the image to even be made (however that is depending on the type of film) in the first place. But I have developed my own film in a darkroom for several years, there are techniques that involve light.

@wrestlegamia productions This wouldn’t happen on vintage cameras since the tongue retracts as soon as the photo is fully ejected. It only covers the image as it’s ejecting, unlike the newer ones which are slightly longer so they don’t retract on their own, so it can stay protected longer.

Tips for any kind of instant photography, get used to use the flash, even if it's "bright" outside, and definitely if you are taking pictures of close subjects, that's why so many pictures came out underexposed or with the first exposure faded by the second, only times when you want to avoid using the flash is when you are out in a really sunny day and your subject is in standing in the light and when you are taking landscape pictures or when your subject it's kinda far away, because the flash will darken anything beyond 5 meters away from the camera, practice makes perfect.

Rotchild As long as there are no streaks in the chemistry when it has ejected it doesn’t matter. They only say that you have to shield it for when the film chemistry streaks, as that causes the over exposed lines in the developed photo, the actual chemistry is strong enough to shield the photo from light during development.
@@NumaticVacuum I just prefer to play it safe and follow the instructions that were given to me 😶
@NumaticVacuum

Max Gaming That’s good but definitely has a lot to do with experience to what will damage your photo. Polaroid always told you even with their original film to keep it out of direct sunlight, ambient and daytime light is fine but don’t let it develop in the direct blast of the sun or somewhere freezing cold.
@autumnall
5 жыл бұрын
I love you, girl - pro tip: hide photos from sun when developing (sun can overdevelop them even after being taken) and don't shake them (the chemistry inside can develop unevenly - the song lies. Have fun with your polaroid! xx

5 жыл бұрын
Great tip with the sun - I didn't even think of that!
@therestorationofdrwho1865
2 жыл бұрын
Almost entirely correct. It doesn’t “overdevelop” them. The opacifier in the chemicals isn’t as strong on the remade Polaroid film compared to the old stuff, so light can damage the photo within the first 3 or so minutes of it ejecting. This is mainly due to the slower developing time. With the old Polaroid film, the image would start appearing within seconds, and so by the time the rollers spread the chemicals across the image, it’s already started to develop enough that it’s protecting the image from any light on its own. Though, even with the old film they recommended you don’t have direct sunlight hitting the image as it develops, you just didn’t need to cover it in most circumstances.

For people wanting to get into instant photography don't buy Polaroid film. You're paying $20 for 8 shots and their formula is constantly changing so you're not garunteed to get good shots. I highly suggest you just start off with instax film/cameras. Instax mini film packs can go as low as $13 for 20 shots or if you wanna shoot wide $20 for 20 shots. Instax is also a more forgiving film so you don't need to know as much information on how to handle the camera and film to get the best shots like Polaroid does. If you do eventually want to shoot Polaroid I highly suggest not buying any cameras from the site itself. They are wayy overpriced and you can find the same $300 Sx-70 on ebay for $30-$60. As for the film, always make sure you're buying the newest batch and storing them in a fridge. High and low temperatures will mess up your film even if it's unopened in the box. You will get varying results on the ambient temperature around you and generally Polaroids are not great at taking night photos unless you have a strong external flash

Too be fair, the Onestep2 can do double exposure too! Not with the app or anything but you CAN do it. I don't have a phone (or technical patience) that can work well with the app so I ended up with the onestep2 and was super disappointed that I wouldn't be able to do DE shots, but I ended up figuring it out if anyone out there gets either camera! (You basically take a photo & shut off the camera IMMEDIATELY after the flash goes off. That keeps the pic from coming out. Then turn it back on & take a second pic. Then let the pic come out and you have a double exposure lol)

Actually 15 minutes is not a lot as this isn't a printed image... It's a properly developed one... Like an actual dark room development process takes place in that tiny film! And when these came out, that process in mainstream took days... Polaroids brought that time of dew days to ten-fifteen minutes which is just amazing. So 15 minutes... Isn't actually a lot of minutes! 😁
