What wasn’t mentioned was that when she broke her pole, the one she borrowed was a pole from a competitor of another team. That’s true sportsmanship right there.
@osche87
Жыл бұрын
No, it was actually her own pole, the competitor had just taken it by mistake. That's what makes this story even crazier! Angelica was the last to jump, and when the pole broke on the third attempt, she got an extra attempt. The problem was that her other pole was nowhere to be found - the the whole competition came to a stall where everybody was just watching Angelica nervously looking everywhere for her lost pole. That french competitor, Ninon, was already out and had packed her poles. She thought that she might just as well lend one of her poles to Angelica, but when she opened her pole tube, she found a pole that didn't belong there - it was the very pole that Angelica had looked for all along! How she cleared on that extra attempt after that extremely stressful situation is beyond crazy! Her male team mate, Armand Duplantis (WR holder) said that it was the craziest thing he had ever seen in a pole vault competition and that he could never have replicated that kind of performance.

My daughter pole vaults, it definitely takes mental fortitude and determination. She fractured her tibia plateau her senior year in High school, but came back in six weeks to win regionals and a week later tied for second at State, she was still wearing her knee brace, but would remove it to vault. Two years later in college, she blew out her meniscus, same knee, six months of recovery, and she was back at it. She impresses me constantly with her mental and physical strength, plus her never give up attitude. Pole vaulters are a different breed, their strength, fearlessness, and total body control is on another level...this is why gymnasts make great pole vaulters (my daughter did gymnastics for 9 years prior)

I just wanna make you aware of things like bpc-157 for your daughter. It's not what you think it is lol it's used for healing damaged muscles and tendons and stuff, and is in no way a PED. Though it is banned by wada because it's SO good at healing muscle injuries, so that's something to keep in mind. Bpc-157 is starting to be used to treat injuries in middle aged and older folks who's healing rate is much slower. But when you give somebody in their prime that stuff, they heal like mf wolverine. I had a buddy get injections of it in his knee after a football injury, and he was back to 100% more than twice as fast as the doctor predicted. Obviously do your research, im no expert on it, I just wanted you to know about it. None of us like seeing our kids injured

Now it is fresh her mind that any attempt she makes could result in major injury and her primal instinct to protect herself could kick in and cause he to bail out from the attempt. Not only did she immediately step up and overcome any fear of failure or injury that was fresh in her mind, but in doing so successfully conpleted the vault and set a new record. Absolutely inspirational!

Pole vaulting is INCREDIBLY hard, my friend pole vaults and i underestimated her and said "I wanna try it!", and i deadass couldnt even push myself up, when i tell you i fell so hard on my ass and all the air got knocked out of my lungs, i truly mean it. I was sore for about a month after that. Yeah, you need muscle for that shit, muscle i dont have😭

If it break early like in the first clip then not really, its about as much of a "wat?" when you are suddenly on you back.. like a "violent slip".. when if breaks half way up then yeah that can.. thats like 3-4 meter up and no soft matress underneath if unlucky.
