Glider Gimli is the unofficial name of one of the Boeing 767-233 airliners of Air Canada, which it received after an aviation accident that occurred on July 23, 1983. This aircraft was on scheduled domestic flight AC143 on the Montreal-Ottawa-Edmonton route, during which (shortly after leaving Ottawa) it ran out of jet fuel and both engines stopped. After lengthy planning, the airliner successfully landed at the unused military airfield of Gimliruen in Manitoba. All 69 people on board (61 passengers and 8 crew members) survived.
