Only just discovered this band after hearing dark star on radio 1, but after hearing all the other tunes they have done I was blown away! Don't think it's autotune they are using sounds more like reverb and delay, but they have used it really well and it compliments an already brilliant voice.

(this is what a good post looks like) Wandering Star Ooh ooh When the day is done And I lay me down I sit alone in my lonely bed And I think about The day we had And it makes me sad 'cause you're gone When the day is done And I lay me down This sheet's so cold And your space is dark And I hear you whispering something sweet And it doesn't move me and it knows me When the day is done And I lay me down I sit alone in my lonely bed And I think about The day we had And it makes me sad 'cause you're gone After all I'm married to the wandering star I kissed his moon It was full and I fell in love with thee But now, the world turns around me Turns around me Turns around me Turns around me When the day is done And I lay me down This sheet's so cold And your place is dark And I hear you whispering something sweet And it doesn't move and it knows me After all, I'm married to the wandering star I kissed his moon It was full and I fell in love with thee But now the world turns around me After all, I'm married to the wandering star I kissed his moon It was full and I fell in love with thee But now the world turns around me When the day is done And I lay me down This sheet's so cold And your space is dark And I hear you whispering something sweet And it doesn't move and it knows me Ooh

Kesha - Fergie - Britney Spears... then you have Channy Leaneagh (the lead singer of Polica)... she is leaps, bounds... MILES ahead in talent compared to anyone else. Polica deserves to be heard. Simply amazing band, their entire cd is amazing.. one that you'd wish it never would end.

Aphex Twin and Venetian Snares. Both back catalogues are so ridiculously huge that is impossible not to find a track that not only connects with how you feel at the time, but also happens to be inimitable genius. I discover new amazing things from them basically every day. It is an easy reaction to retreat into your shell of genres you know, but there is genius breakbeat/hiphop/edm coming out all the time - branch out.

i agree with you, it annoys me when people are only dedicated to one kind of music and say all other types are bad because it's not their type and they don't appriciate the talent in it. I dispise autotune in pretty much all situations, but polica doesnt use it because she isn't talented like most, she just uses it for effect.. i really dont know her well atall, i saw her live by chance at a festival last week and loved it, but I'm not a 'fan' atall, really.

yes, they do. almost all artists use some form off effect on their voice, even if it's very subtle, just to perfect it that little bit more (boyfriend works in mastering music) the effect is not SUPPOSED to be subtle. she isnt using it to make her voice sound better, shes using it as an effect for the whole song.

It's interesting that this song is called "Wandering Star" when this photo seems to be an homage of Shooting Star's "Hang on for Your Life" album (minus the motorcycle flying through the room). Even the Polica lettering is spookily similar to the Shooting Star album.

she played at latitude festival over the weekend, played on the lake stage so i watched her whilst i had lunch aha, thought she was great (didn't use much autotune in person to be fair) and looked her up. I do think that some of her songs have too much, but I don't think it ruins it, just makes it... different, i guess.

the boyfriend has been studying music tech for 7 years and has a degree in it, whenever we listen to music he's always commenting on stuff, commenting on the levels and what not, I pick things up because i never know what he's talking about and have to ask. he never stops going on about music, it gets boring, but i pick stuff up from it, and you obviously assumed you knew more than me about music, so i threw it in because i've been put through music-based conversations for many years now.
