@@BIPPITYYIPYIP Nah, I blame him. I can tell he's one of those kids who didn't like living under his parents "oppressive rules" and "mental abuse". I speak from experience. I moved out at 17 because of made up bullshit like that, except I was sober, had a job, car, apartment, and was joining the military 2 months after my 18th birthday. My girlfriends parents swore up and down I was selling drugs. I'm 37 today and have never been back to my parents house. I realize now how everything they ever did was for my own good but that didn't happen until 8 or 9 years ago. My whole life I held a grudge against them and now I see what a little shithead I was. I can smell the privilege on him. He's the type that hates his parents but constantly goes back to them when he's REALLY down. I bet they're the first people he calls when he gets to jail and they'll probably bail him out too. He'll promise to get his shit together, and move back in, until they ask him to mow the lawn, or stop shooting up heroin in their home. Then he'll argue with them. Tell them they're the worst parents in the world and "run away" again. He's a joke.

@whitway12

You’re a saint for doing that work - and I would concur - there is obviously context and complexity as with every situation, and I’m sure a range of individuals with different objectives or issues, those with severe mental health issues, those that simply fell on hard times and who are willing to help themselves by cooperating with resources, but as you said, there are also those who blame the world and have zero concept of personal responsibility, who thrive in their perceived victimhood and that attitude is typically accompanied by anti social behaviour and disdain towards others, even if those people are trying to help. You see it a lot when defendants are put on probation, they are handed every resource they could need on a silver platter to help them improve their lives, and many of them just can’t be bothered, coming up with multiple excuses as to why. It’s a spectrum, there are good and bad people in the world, regardless of their situation, and I’m sure you helped as many people as you could while you did that work!
@lornaginetteharrison7168

Unfortunately just as much as the homeless people may not always have insight into their predicament, many people who work with them become rather judgmental and suffer from empathy burnout, making them unable to help them effectively. When you blame everyone you’re supposed to be helping for them being homeless, and your attitude towards them is that it’s all their fault, it’s probably time to leave the job to people who are still capable of compassion.
@ct5625

1. I don't believe you've worked with the homeless at all, let alone 14+ years. 2. If you did, you were not capable of it because you clearly have no empathy, no ability to view people as individuals, and no understanding of the psychological and social issues that often lead to homelessness.

I only know from watching COPS on tv, I’ve never been in law enforcement before, but I don’t remember perps in the 80’s and 90’s behaving like these folks today. They *feel* entitled to talk to cops like dogs; entitled to have their phone 24/7 (tbf, I know they weren’t around then), it’s just their whole entitled attitude. Then, after insulting, resisting, and cursing officers with the most vile stuff, they’ll ask why the cop is gonna tow their vehicle, for example. Just shameful behavior that they seem completely oblivious to. Most of all, I don’t remember so many having meltdowns after getting cuffed. I hate to be cliche, but they *_acted like adults_* I just think we have a real problem on our hands. I don’t mean any race or gender. I mean a too-large segment of entire generations that don’t have the coping skills for life. I don’t want to hear about your deadbeat uncle of 60 who is also a loser. There just isn’t a comparison to what we are seeing in these police videos. Heck, even ten years ago it wasn’t *_half_* this bad. But I’d love to hear what any experienced LEOs say? Is it just more access to more videos that is giving this kind of perspective?

In case you're wondering, 13:31 is what a genuinely kind human looks like. She thought about it for a bit but decided not to punish him. To be truly KIND, you need to be self-motivated. If you are kind up until it comes to a situation like this where you could punish a person who inconvenienced or insulted you, you are only NICE rather than kind. Kindness is a genuine personality trait and nice people can never keep up the act when it comes down to the wire in a moment like this.

@allisonjames2923
2 ай бұрын
They have & it’s really sad that human tolerance & acceptance is regressing across the world these days. Especially when we know better. But at the same time, too many people are also seeing racism where there is none. I work in emergency services & I’m nice to everyone I encounter. The worst I do is start to get a bit snappy with people who are abusing me for no reason. One of my colleagues mentioned an interesting conversation with a Samoan friend of his. They were talking about racism & my colleague asked his friend when the last time he was called a f(luff)ing black c*? He said he hadn’t had that for maybe 15 years or more. My colleague told him that we get called the white version of that insult at least once a week & sometimes more. By the same minority that are generally the subject of racism throughout history. I have no doubt racism exists & I’m sickened by how many people are openly racist towards minorities these days. But by the same token, white people who don’t deserve it by any means are getting it back. And a lot of it seems to be due to misunderstandings as well as positive discrimination reinforcing discrimination. I really wish we could put all that aside & just treat people as individuals based on their behaviour as individuals. There are good & bad people in every country, with every amount of melanin in their skin. We cannot undo the past. We acknowledge that horrific things were done. But all the singling out of specific groups to try to make amends is just reinforcing the divisions & differences.
