The air cleaner's function is to flip upside down on top of the carb while working on other areas of the car, and you have a solid bolt holder.... That's what my Dad used to say. He was a mechanic at a Dodge dealer so he wasn't being sarcastic...

This will be as cool as the underside of a pillow! My grandfather was a Chrysler Plymouth service manager in 62. He drove a Hemi powered 55 Desoto. Green and white. Loved that car, he sold it for $200 to a guy that drove it home in the 80s.

Nothing better than a sleepy car... When we cruised Hwy 100, West Allis, WI, back in the 80s, early 90s, I'll never forget the black 4dr 64 Dodge that would slowly bring his lane to a stop, only to lay the darkest set of tire tracks I've ever seen put down on pavement. You wouldn't usually look at that cat twice, with all the other boldly painted muscle cars that had tunnel rams and dual 4 barrel carbs, wheelie bars ,etc... That black Dodge was my favorite.

Steve, I have been waiting for this! I’m really excited to see you build this awesome police car. I’m building my’76 Dodge Coronet exCHP Police Pursuit as a sleeper also. Since it has the “born with” numbers matching 440 engine and it rust free I am going more a stock appearance restoration but I had the engine rebuilt with some head work and bigger cam so it made 513hp and 565 ft lbs of torque on an engine dyno. I am painting the car all black in the paint booth at my house with help from a good friend. It will be driver quality but with the body being rust free and very straight, I think I can pull off a period correct look like it would looked back in the ‘70s. Anyway, Best of luck with the build and I will be closely following the videos you make on your really cool cop car!👍👍👍👍👍

I think I had an old magazine with a story on the 413 Super Stock engine. Those photos in your magazine story look familiar,. The loose rings and piston fit meant that it ate oil, and the induction setup didn't work in the cold weather - no surprise there. Looking forward to the next steps!

I’ve been looking forward to getting going on the Dart. You could do a video on your reaction the day your credit card statement arrives, the exhaust manifolds and induction system outlay will be enough to make anyone weak in the knees.

Steve, no idea if you know this, probably do... The "RamChargers" were a group of Chrysler engineers that went drag racing for fun in their own time, and are the ones that developed the Ram Charging hardware, not only for the big blocks, but also as the long runner HyperPak dealer fitted kits for Slant Sixes. That 17 inch long intake runner got the same Carter 3083 as the 413 Wedge used on *IIRC* the 300F. Those carbs are now Unobtainium... The air cleaner lid you held up is the same as fitted to Slants DownUnder, and the HyperPak itself inspired the "E34" package for Aussie Hemi6 engines before the Tripple DCOE Webbers came along.

@@smiddysmidton8313 Came back to play it on the PC,... couldn't see the welded in piece on my phone! See the ones on the photo of the cross-ram, without the extra bit, those are the ones that went on two barrel Slant Sixes in Australia in 67 thru 69 - VE and VF models.

I look forward to seeing this project move forward. I started watching with my husband when you first got the car. He recently was able to get his brothers 65 Coronet 440 out of a farm field it has sat in since 1998. They swapped the original 273 out for another one from a 66 Dart years ago, so his plan is to recover it with a 383, and replace the cable shift transmission with a floor shifter and linkage transmission. Otherwise he plans to go stock. We look forward to some inspiration watching your project.

Hi Steve, love your channel and knowledge of cars. I have a 70 nova that is original paint like your Dodge. I know you mentioned not touching the exterior but was wondering if you are considering doing anything to protect the exterior from moisture or potential rain water if caught out in a storm. I live in New England and want to prevent further oxidation/rust of my car. I've considered patina sauce, boiled linseed oil or using a semi gloss clear coat to protect it. Any thoughts? Thank you and great car!
