As a retired Oregon row, field crop and orchard farmer its fun to watch you younger generation farmer hard at work, although in all my years we never waxed our tractors and I cannot remember washing them either. Oh well you millennials have different ideas. :). Of course we didn't have all the electronics you must have these days. All good stuff.

It's actually the older generation that is big on cleaning/waxing equipment. It helps with the long-term appearance. We shoot for 1-2 coats of wax a year, but it isn't a do-or-die type of deal. I enjoy the vanity of the clean equipment, but you'll never beat the look of something that is brand new!

The rain is a God send. Here in the Central Valley of CA we have had an amazing rainy season and looks similar to your situation with all of our water banks near capacity. We haven’t seen our reservoir’s this full in years so early in the season. We have had an amazing rainy season almost to the detriment of the almond crop at this point, but to be able to have the water for the dry season, the trade off is worth it. We even have a descent size river that runs through the middle of town that only fills up if we have excess snow melt and it’s already running full steam, way before the snowmelt begins from the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. Keep up the great content, Andy!

That’s awesome! It’s crazy how fast the pendulum can swing back the other direction. I do know that you all were nearing tragically low water levels out there over the last few years. The pictures of the depleted reserves were wild. I hope this refills you all without too much damage. Good luck!

@@aTrippyFarmer thanks man! That’s very true. Water allotments were cut back nearly 75% and while all our stuff is on drip irrigation, and the trees are learning to adapt with less, it has been a huge learning curve. In my particular area, we have been ok and not been flooded out, but other parts have gotten it bad because the soil is very hydrophobic after so many years of drought and just can’t take in the water quick enough. Plus, some regions have not created an adequate water banking system in anticipation of these weather patterns to try and replenish our underground aquifers. This was supposed to be a drier winter, around here. Since we have finally broken out of the La Niña weather pattern, next years rain should be another good one! Hopefully some of these communities will prepare this Spring/Summer for next Fall. Good luck this planting season to you, too!

I remember back in I believe 2018 of a storm. I went to Lakeland college and the whole parking lot was completely under water. People had water on the inside of the their vehicles. Some trucks were not even safe in some areas the water just went so high. Parts of Highway 45 that you never thought were able get under water were even under water. I will always remember that storm and the videos come up every year on my phone so I can re-live that day.

Keep going with your videos and i want you have a great season with biggests yield's

Good luck to you, too!

Phil, I wish it were that simple. There is always major variation in year-to-year performance, especially in soybeans. They are much more sensitive to the sunlight and rain events than corn, so the best variety last year could be a middle performer this year. Farmers typically put a lot of trust in the research data of seed companies. They often grow these new genetics for multiple generations in the greenhouse before they even go into seed production and trial work. From there, they can then speculate on it's true standing in their seed lineup. A seed company has every incentive to satisfy their customers. If a product is a flop, which happened frequently decades ago, it can leave a longstanding stain on their business. Pioneer is the prime example of this. In the 90s, they sold a hybrid that was incredibly weak against green-snap. One strong wind around tassel and it was done for, so, to this day, many people still say that Pioneer seed corn never stays standing. This isn't even factual in the current day, but you can't outrun your previous mistakes with farmers. Basically, when there is supportive data provided with new products, we almost always will update our seed lineup to the newest and the best.

I think the defining difference between a shed and a barn is that a barn has live stuff in it. I’m not a farmer by any means, but I know a family that lives in an old barn. That alone makes me an undisputed expert on this subject. Lol. In fact I know a guy who lives in a shed that he built in to a house. I also know a guy that turned a shed into a barn. He doesn’t live in it, but he keeps his horses… and a tractor in it…. So there is that….
