Jerry's bit on helmets is pretty genius. Comedians are so interesting because they see the world just slightly different than everyone else and can offer some great insight, perspective, and humor in what we all seem to overlook.

I believe this is the VERY FIRST episode (which aired on Comedy Central). Because I know that Robin Quivers was on the very show, and I believe that was her only appearance. I'm a big Howard Stern fan & remember it coming up on Howard's show over the years. In fact, I think I even remember them plugging her appearance, prior to it's original airing.

Jerry and Bill were (and are) longtime pals from their days at the Comedy Store (with Jay Leno). That's why Jerry agreed to come on the pilot episode of PI. But when the show evolved into guests espousing their political opinions Seinfeld declined to appear again. They're still friends, Maher even appeared on "Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee".

Jason Downs No. This was par for the course for this show. I actually like it better than Real Time. Real Time is full of heavy duty, wonky politicos intensely debating issues. Bill's old show wasn't as smart but it was a lot funnier.

Yes, this was the pilot so this panel was pretty stacked for 1993, especially for Comedy Central. The show was filmed in NYC back then, and the Howard Stern show had a massive audience, so having Robin Quivers on the first episode was a smart move to get free plugs on the Stern show for that audience to tune in.

carryover from the 80's. Jerry is 39 and Bill is 37. Most of the young guys had ditched this look by then. Also they are more mullet-esque, rather than true mullets. For a real mullet, see Billy Ray Cycrus video for Achy Breaky Heart (1992).

***** No ... The first two seasons are fine. They're just finding their own. I'd say the 3, 4, and 5 seasons are the best. After that they had two many different writers and the character got played out. Still good. Even Jerry here was pretty good. He did one little bit that was in his act, other than that he was quick and witty. And I still think Larry was the king. Just look at curb. If you don't like curb then ... I have no more to say to you. Except, what do you like? I'd be interested. Serious : )

Back in the day people would write into shows, its kinda how Bill Maher got cancelled for 911 jokes. Nowadays nobody steps down with honesty. If you say some inappropriate you can either stick to it. It's when you do something weird to someone and go to court for such crimes, you end up getting in a "metoo" situation.

out of all the characters in the world, I am pretty much Bill Maher, literally questioning every human about their opinions to try to figure out why i believe what i believe in, but overall, having fun with challenging others and thyself, this is William Maher, like it or not, have fun challenging others, if they get pissed, let them get pissed, I don't fuckin care if they can't have fun with the damn topic..pretty much. But he did this because Bill was a friend and fellow comic, and Jerry's good friend Larry Miller was going to be on the panel. Jerry still has not been on Bill's "Real Time" show. Boy, was Perot right about that $0.50 cent tax on gas. We need to do that to build up our reserve cash, because Saudi Arabia can do it every day ... pumping a barrel oil for $3 and selling it for whatever they sell it for day after day. They make over $300 million dollars a day ... about 2 billion dollars a week, 100 billions dollars a year and that was in the 90's.
